Joanne- try Carl Vinson (CVN70) and see what comes up on FB. Let me know.

Joanne- go on to the Vinson's FB and you can see lots of pics of the kinds of things they did. Looks pretty disgusting. I googled the whole "crossing the equator" tradition and what they USED to do was far worse.

Maryland mom- I don't either between my school work and regular work and watching grand kids! But I try and keep up to date with my sons ships site.  That sounds awful with the guys at Fleet week. Good thing Steve wasn't involved.

No lunch date yet set. Sometime in June?

Hi Everyone !! Dont have much time on here anymore :(

Betsy, I love the new house. So glad that Adam is happy & doing well. Steve sent a messge last night. His ship is in New Orleans for Fleet Week. He said lots of drunk people last night, and lots of ruined white uniforms. He had duty, so I know his are safe for at least a day. They were told ahead of time of some things to expect. One being that the locals will tear off your patches and bars for keepsakes. He's kind of nervous about that happening. Just hope that no one has any trouble while there. Ship comes back to Norfolk for about a week, then heads to New York for another Fleet Week. I hope to visit that one. Trying to find a room, but things are outrageous ! I am keeping an eye out for the next lunch date. I hope I can make the drive down from Cumberland. A weekend day would be best, unless it's after June 8th. School will be out, and days will be easier. Hope everyone has a great week !!

Everyone's life is very busy i see! Glad you found new employment Linda. I know your sailor is anxious to get all of his schooling over and move onto what he has been trained to do. My son was the same way.

Sheilamf- how does your son feel about going out to sea in his Sub?

I just heard from my son who went through the initiation of becoming a "shellback" yesterday. They crossed the border and the "pollywogs" had to go through some pretty nasty stuff to get that shellback certificate. He did say that compared to what it was [ and I read about THAT!] the Navy is "kinder and more gentle" in this rite of passage. GOOD! The only thing he did say about it was that he would have to take several showers to get rid of the "fish smell!" I can't wait to hear all about it!

Hi everyone,

I haven't been around for a while.  My life got a bit complicated when my job was eliminated last November.  I am now working at the University of Maryland Baltimore.

Betsy - Nice house!  I'm not sure exactly where you're house is but it has to be fairly close to mine as I am in Eldersburg.

My son will graduate Power School May 25 and then start Prototype June 11.  He is excited about starting school right after graduation as he wants to get out in the fleet.  I am looking forward to a nice vacation n Charleston next month!

Lunch sounds good.  It would be great to see everyone there!

Joanne, that's pretty awesome that Jason's CO sent you a letter. Does he know? I guess they must think highly of Jason and don't want to let him go. If they didn't I doubt they would be sending you that kind of letter. Do you think this may change his mind?

I can't wait to see you Cori girl!

Betsy it is hard- some days I'm so busy i don't think about it but then on other days I find I just start crying. Too much going on I guess.

That sounds great- going to FL. I will be gone the 22nd to the 26th so that week is out for me. Maybe it will have to be the first saturday of June? if we start throwing out dates now something is bound to work!

Hi Lori, I have missed you.  I will say prayers for your sailor.  I can imagine how hard it is not to be able to communicate whenever you want.  May is good for me too, but I will be away from May 11 until May 21.  We planned a spring FL vacation before we bought the house, so my husband still wants to go.

Welcome margeeim!

I haven't been on here in awhile. Been so busy with school and keeping up on my son's ships site. He's on his first deployment so Betsy I know how you're feeling. He will be home before the summer though. I've been sending care packages to him every week. He's gotten some but I haven't heard from him since the last port [ Dubai] so don't know if he's gotten any others.

I love the pic of the house! So happy you have one and I hope the settlement goes smoothly.

A lunch would be good. For me though it would have to be next month because I have so much studying and papers to write till school is out beginning of May.

I would love to see everyone [ and our new mom!] again. PF Changs! I haven't been since we last met up!
