Betsy- great pic! I'm jealous you got a tour of the ship- how did you get that? We are going to Paul's Homecoming and I didn't know anyone was allowed on the ships- except the TC people. I hope to get some pics of at least Paul's ship when it's at the pier. Paul said he DID get lost a few times when he first got on his ship!

Joanne- so Kevin decided on Army. Wow. I know you aren't too thrilled with that but maybe this will be just what he needs. Hugs to you.

Cindy- I want to ask you questions about Homecoming- where did Paul come in - I forgot.

Oh Joanne, ((hugs)) from me. I bet you are so proud of your boys.  My prayers go out to him.  Please thank him for his service from me.  I have a good friend on Navy4moms who has a boy in the Navy and one in the Army.  If you would like I could hook you two up so you can talk.  I have a feeling you will have a lot in common.  I also have another really good friend whose one twin is in the Army and her other twin is going to enlist in the Navy at end of this semester of college.

That ship is massive, lol.  My Adam is so afraid that he will get lost on it.  I told him that as long as he can find his office, birth and the mess hall, that's pretty much all he will need to know.  Oh that and how to get off the ship.  lol

Oh and for the record, this is what I look like without makeup and after a cross country drive.  Ugh!  This was taken an hour after we arrived in Bremerton. lol

Thank you, Cindy, it was really windy, but about 50 degrees that day.  Although Adam did say after we got off the ship that he probably should have worn his jacket.  lol

This is Adam and and me on the deck of the Stennis.  I will catch up tomorrow since I fly out today with details of our trip.  Just wanted to post this picture.  We were given a tour of the ship together.

Joanne, all visits are just too short! They have to divide their time with friends and we just want them all to ourselves.

His Mom- That's great you got a call even if it wasn't coherent! I had to laugh when I read that as I have saved a message on my phone that is unintelligible. When my son got to Bahrain before being flown out to his ship he called and I wasn't home [ kicked myself for days over that]. He left a message that the only thing I could make out was "mom" and that it was his voice! No matter I'm saving it!

We moms may be strange creatures but God knew what he was doing! We would do anything for these kids!

I felt the same way when my sailor was home.  It was just such a comforting feeling to see him right there sleeping peacefully.  Then when he left I did all the laundry that he left and folded them neatly and put them in his dresser.   I am ready for the next visit!!!!

It will be a while he is on his way to Japan. First actual deployment and I have already heard from him.  He was breaking up quite a bit calling from the ship but he could have babbled incoherently and I would have been just as happy knowing it was him on the other end of the line.

Cindy- I just read on the Vinson's FB that the Bush got the Battle "E" award. So did the Vinson. So they get a new pin! It was an article about 2 life long friends on each of the ships. I wonder if they put the same article up on the Bush's FB?

That is so neat that Paul gets to come home on weekends. Does he have to travel with a buddy? Home cooked meals and a soft bed! I'm thinking my Paul would love that about now! That's a crazy week that Heather is putting in.

Paul went to that Mall and the Water Park. Loved it he said. Just to be on land and not have to wait around in long lines for everything [ like he does on the ship]. He wrote and told me he ate Antelope and said it was the best meat he ever had. This from my picky eater!

Joanne- glad Jason is home and you at least got to see him for a few minutes! Such a short visit. Yes thursday will be a "boo hoo" day for sure- sorry : (

Hi Cindy, he's doing good as far as I know. He gets to email me from the ship every day as he is by a computer in his shop. I feel very lucky that I get to hear from him as some moms don't get a word from their sailors for days/weeks. The ship was just in Dubai which he liked. I think they all did! Just to get off the ship and do something different. Do you get to hear from your Paul much? No duty OR watch? Does he get bored or is he keeping busy with what he's doing? How is Heather doing at school?

Thanks Betsy for keeping us updated on your travels. Glad you get to spend time with your daughter and son. And Adam has the opportunity to spend time with hsi buddies too!

Good luck on the rest of your travels. Sounds like you have miles to go yet before your destination- at least you have good company! If you get to see the Stennis in port can you take a picture to put on here?
