Cindy, I just looked at the calling cards. Does it have say "ship to shore" specifically? They had some really expensive ones. So maybe this would be a good thing to get him for birthday/ Christmas [ his is next week and I'm praying he will be here by then].

Great ideas. Thanks for the link Cindy. I looked at this navyrack pack and I don't understand what it is exactly. Is it a curtain? Do they need a curtain and how would it attach? I like that it's mom's that have come up with this idea. I looked at the long list of ships that have their product but didn't see Paul's listed.

Reading about how things "grow legs" is discouraging. So the PS3 game I ordered he can't even use? Wish i had thought to ask on here first. The ship to shore cards sounds like a good idea. I hadn't thought about the fact he wouldn't be able to use his phone.

So should I just give him money for Christmas?

Hey Donna, I've missed you.  I'm so glad that you are lucky enough to have Steve so close to home.  Isn't it awesome that we have been able to have our boys home the last 2 Christmases?  We have to get together again soon.  I drove through Cumberland on my way back from Blackwater Falls, WV a few weeks ago and wish I had had your cell number with me.  :(  Have a wonderful holiday, if I don't talk to you before then.

Lori, I agree with Cindy, I've been sending those Purex Sheets to Adam, even in A school.

I talked to Adam this morning and he is so excited to be coming home.  :)  He said he was Class 4 and had to get to Class 2, so he was heading to the dentist.  I assume Class 2 means that he is ready medically to go out in the fleet, since he is waiting for his Orders.  He hasn't been home in a year and it's so funny because he comes home on Saturday, which is a year to the day that he graduated from BC.  :)   Isn't that appropriate?

Cindy, thanks! That was helpful. I've never heard of the Purex sheets but I'm going to look for them.

What are you going to give Paul for Christmas? If their space is limited I don't want to get anything he can't take back with him. I did get black socks- figured he could use those right? Also he had wanted a PS3 game which I ordered for him. Can they take a game system with them?

Cindy, I was just thinking of you this morning and wondering if Paul was going to make it home for Christmas...and then I saw your post! So happy for you! Love the pic.

Since some of you moms have sailors that have been on the ships can I ask you some questions?

1] Paul will need to meet up with the ship after his leave- do you know if they fly them out to meet the ship at another port or in the middle of the ocean!?

2] Do they get their own bunk or do they share it? The reason I ask- I was wondering what to get him for Christmas as I know he doesn't have a lot of room- any suggestions?

3] If I mail packages to him is there a weight limit or is the postage cheaper going out to a ship?

Thanks all.

Hi Betsy, Hope all is well with you. Adam is still in Pensacola right ?? Steve is in Norfolk, his ship has been underway since last Sun. due back this thurs. He will then be taking his leave. So, we will have him home again this year for Christmas. Really excited for that. His ships page is no where near as active as the others I have been on. Think I was spoiled with our group !!

Cindy, What an awesome picture.  I bet that was so exciting!  Will he come home for Christmas?

Lori, I'll be praying that Paul gets his Orders tomorrow.  Fingers and toes are crossed for you.

Sally, how have you been? How is your daughter doing?

Betsy- I am SOOOO hoping that Paul gets his written orders tomorrow. I will check out prices on all the airlines first and then i might do Priceline.

deneen, ((Hugs)) and my prayers go out to your family.  I'm so sorry about your loss.

Joanne B, belated condolences on the loss of your mom.  ((hugs))

I think they were working a concession stand.  Someone had posted on here a few weeks ago that they were looking for Navy4Moms ladies to work the game.  I wish I could have done it, it sounded like a lot of fun.

Deneen- I am so sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is so hard. I attended 2 memorials this past week of my friends moms. One of them was like my second mom to me.

I hope you are able to have a nice day today at the game. Go Navy!

Betsy- thanks I'm going to check out the link you put up. A big hug for doing that! I tried again to ask a question on the ships group and they STILL ignored me. I have no idea why. Could it be because their sailors are gone and mine hasn't with the ship yet?
