My heart goes out to all still without power. And schools that are still closed...not a good start to the new school year. Hope you all get your power back on soon.

Sorry to hear of those without power-I know I am very firtunate to have not lost power here in Eldersburg.  We just lost the internet for 2 days.  In Towson where I work, new traffic lights were not working today!  I'm not sure how this works...  At least Carroll Community College and Carroll County public schools started on time!

Looking forward to Friday when Joey comes home form Goose Creek for the weekend.  We have always gone to the Renaissance Festival on the Sunday before Labor Day and he wanted to come home for the weekend to go with us.  I can't wait to see him again!

jrzizhmet, I'm still not familiar with all the terms and who does what in the Navy. Doubt I ever will be! It would be hard to visit your daughter in Japan I agree. Hopefully she'll get stateside. That's neat you went back for Criminal Justice. Hard to believe there is no need for someone in that field. There will always be criminals!

Hi Betsy..My daughter is loving Pensacola as well, but she cant start her schooling yet becuz there arent enough there to start the class!! She is going for Aviation Ordnanceman.  She said that they don't have to fill out sheets especially if they are in high demand in Japan where she is looking forward to going!!

Hi Lori, my daughter said that AO's dont have to fill out a sheet for where they want to go. But her schooling is for Aviation Ordanceman and they are highly needed in Japan. But I'm hoping she dont go bcuz I wont be able to visit her!!  I went back to school for Criminal Justice, which I haven't been able to find a job in because of the hiring freeze!! Which sucks!!

Yes, ladies, I have been trying to tell me dad that since yesterday.  Ugh!    I just hope that we have been able to convince him of that.  I'll keep you posted.  Thank you for your concern, it's appreciated.

Betsy, I hope your dad calls them because it would be worth $500 to have a professional clean it. If your mom has health issues the last thing she needs is to be breathing mold. And once that mold starts growing it's harder to control. My parents basement would always flood and the smell was terrible from the mold. My dad also had COPD [ he died 7 years ago] and asthma and I wonder sometimes if the mold didn't contribute to it in some way. He had his "work shop" in the basement so was always done there.

Cindy, wow!  I hope you get your power back soon.  I did hear that a lot of school districts did close today.

Lori, thanks.  My dad is so stubborn that he won't call their insurance company because they have a $500 deductible.  Ugh!  I think I may have convinced him this morning though.  I can't even imagine how much mold that is growing down there even as I type this.  My mother has COPD and asthma, so she doesn't need to worry about that on top of her other health problems.

Sounds like you guys were hit pretty hard. In areas closer to DC than we are there are many without power. I think those with above ground lines made out the worse. Ours all buried in the ground.

Besty that is terrible about your parents house.

Cindy- first day of school closed! Can't remember that ever happening. Not a very good start to the school year. Glad you have electricity.

Birknma- good to "see" you back!
