Betsy, are you going to his A school graduation? I think you mentioned it at our lunch but can't remember. He hasn't gotten his orders yet? Paul grads in Oct from SD and he hasn't gotten his orders yet where he will be stationed. He's hoping he will stay where he is. I wouldn't mind him on the east coast of course! Better that then in Europe. But that's my "moms" heart. I miss him as i haven't seen him since Feb. It's so expensive to go to CA.
Thanks Betsy! I don't know about "courage"... this is something I've wanted to do for a very long time. I'm going to a very nervous student come tuesday! But maybe it does take a bit of courage as I'm so afraid of failing.
jrzizhme, my son is in Pensacola too. He is in A school now, for CTT and just filled out his "dream sheet" last week. He is hoping for San Diego, but who knows what will happen? He loves Pensacola, but will be graduating from A school on Sept. 23. What is your sailor going for?
Lori, I know that you will do just awesome! I give you a lot of credit and you too, jrizizhmet. I wish I could have had enough courage to do that.
jrzizhmet, that's wonderful about your daughter. What is her rate? Wow, for her to already know where she will be stationed is quick. Did she put down on her sheet for Japan? One of Navy mom friends has her son in Japan.
Thanks for the encouragement about school. Good for you going back and graduating! What did you go in for?
The school is local to me, Montgomery College. There are 3 campus' but I'm starting out in the Germantown one as it's a smaller campus. I live in Olney.
I have lots of questions to ask you about being an adult student. Can you email me? My email address is x6nana@verizon.net
Thanks so much!
Lori
Welcome jrzizhme! It's always nice to have another "marylander" join is! We kind of just made our own "meet and greet" a few weeks ago as Betsy said. There were just a few of us who could make it.
Tell us about your recruit? When does she graduate?
Well I just got back from a "new student orientation" at our local College! I start school next tues. I'm really hoping I'm not going to be the oldest in my classes.Though today I definitely felt "old!" Going to see if you can teach an "old dog new tricks!"
Lori, I'll betch that deer did sense something ahead of time. My husband said that the squirrels in DC were running around like maniacs right before it happened and he couldn't figure out what was going on, until the earth shook underneath him. lol
jrzizhme1, I'm sure that we could meet somewhere close to Baltimore too. We just had a lunch in Columbia a few weeks ago. Would that be too far for you? Which section of town are you, in Baltimore. I used to live in Parkville. We are going to plan another lunch date soon, so check in on here every once in a while.
Hi Ladies,
I'm really looking to meet some other Navy Moms. I live in the Baltimore, Md and I always see that they are having meet and greets far away from me. Do they have some here in Maryland or do I try to set this up ourselves?
Sorry Betsy! Guess I was still rattled when I wrote that!!! LOL
I have heard that animals are affected before an earthquake occurs. The funny thing is that I just remembered now as I was on the computer yesterday, just as it happened, I saw deer running out of the woods behind us. Didn't think anything about it at the time as we have deer come through all the time. But I wonder if they were "aware" of it in the same way your dog was?
Never having lived on the West Coast I had no idea what to relate what was happening to an earthquake. I suppose those who are used to these automatically would know. I am still feeling "jumpy" even now. To me "hearing" the house and "feeling" the movement made me think a gas explosion not an earthquake.
Debbie, good thinking grabbing the dog! Did he act unusual in anyway?
