Thanks ladies.  I appreciate the greeting.  I definately like the idea of keeping in touch with the other Maryland Mom's.  Your August lunch is probably too much / too soon for me right now.  But I'll continue to watch.  September may be a little too soon as well, since I also have a step-son who's leaving in September for the Marine's Boot Camp.  Both, having just turned 18, just graduated from high school, as I'm sure you all can imagine, it has been a very whirlwind kind of summer for our family!!  Thank you for your support.

Yes welcome Sheilamf! Glad you found our site. And if you anywhere near to Columbia where we will be going for lunch please join us. If we can help you in anyway with answering questions we would be more than happy to do so.

I know as the days count down for you with your son leaving it can be so filled with emotions. Patricia is right- the bootcamp site is a wealth of info and when your son gets his PIR [ a couple of weeks into BC] you will want to join that group and find moms who are all in the same "boat!"

Ladies... I'm new to NFM. My son, Joe, leaves for BC on August 16th. Anyone else on the same time table as us??

That's great! Betsy probably 3 will be way to late. What time does everyone want to go for?

I put it on my calender for the 6th!  I'm looking forward to meeting everyone!

It looks like a transport carrier for helicopters, so probably no rails on parts of the ship.  When I was on the Midway for a tour, if I remember correctly I don't believe there were rails on the deck where the planes took off.

My prayers for the sailor's family as well.  ((hugs)) to them.

Sounds good, Lori.   :)  What time are we talking about?  My daughter will be the hostess at PF Chang's at 3, but I know that too late for lunch.  :(  I guess I could just show you her picture.  lol

Joanne- as much as I'd love to see you having your sailor home is far better!

I told my daughter I'm changing my plans for her. No guilt though! But the 6th is going on the calendar.

Donna can't make it, she will be in OC next week.  :(

Joanne, well that would definitely be a great excuse if you can't be there.  lol  Yes, I think we are still thinking PF Chang's in Columbia.

Cindy, ok I will text her.  I have met her a couple of times (at GL for BC graduation and then again in Pensacola when we both just happened to visit our sailors at Easter) and I know she will want to come.
