For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Jeano- I hear ya about the snow! We finally got a plow through on our street. Sun is out and things are melting. It's going to take WEEKS though to melt over a foot of snow. Stay warm ladies!

Liz, we were sorry you weren't able to make it too. There were 6 of us and it was fun meeting new mom's and catching up with the older ones [speaking as the 'senior' here!]. I love what you said to the guy! That's priceless! Funny thing is we all said we needed to exchange numbers and were so busy talking we didn't! I have Joanne's number as we text a lot but didn't get the other moms. That's what happens when you get several women together... we talk and talk and talk!
We will definitely meet again, though nothing was set up. Nuggets of info...hmmm... don't think so [ladies?]. We talked about our sailors [of course!] and stories we had heard.
Trudygirl- welcome to our group! Wish we had known you were here as you would have been invited for sure.
Congrats on your son being in the Navy! I know you must have a thousand questions. You will have another son in the Navy too! Wow! Had they joined at the same time but were Deppers?
I'm sure you've been on boot camp moms but from how it was when our son graduated [ almost 4 years now with 2 more to go] he was staying at GL because of A school so we got to spend the weekend with him. We did fly out on Sunday and he didn't need to report till Monday but I think that was for the best. He needed time to get himself situated and get his mind used to being a part of his new group. So it depends on what rate they are in and where they will be going to school. So he might be a grad and go. You will get to spend the day with him but if he is g&g he will be leaving the next day [some leave that night]. You might want to make your flight out for Sunday. It would be so hard to leave him when he has an extra day to spend with you. And if he does have to leave, you and your husband could do some sight seeing. Remember- it is COLD at GL [ lake affect and all that] so plan accordingly. My sons buddy [who has been with him since they bunked together in bc and now is on the same ship with him] has family in Chicago and I've been emailing his mom. Now you talk about SNOW! Glad I don't live there!

Hey, Trudygirl76. How are you? I messaged you the other day about the luncheon today. Check your inbox.
As for your question, my understanding is that the higher ranked Divisions are frequently 'Grad and Go'. Meaning they leave for their A school sometime that Friday eve or early Saturday morning. However, most families are able to at least have lunch or dinner with their Sailor. Don't quote me on this. :-) It's only my understanding from the several sources I've read and how it was explained by my SR's recruiter. To be on the safe side, it has been strongly suggested to fly out Sunday in the event your Sailor is delayed. It gives you more time with him. As for the other divisions, I'm not certain what the "norm" is for flying out. My son is a CS (Culinary Specialist) and will head to Ft. Lee, VA. I don't believe he'll leave out until Sunday. BUT no one knows for certain until the day before or day of PIR.
We erred on the side of caution and scheduled our departure for Sunday afternoon. We want as much time with him as possible. We went with SWA airlines since there are no penalties for making changes.
I hope this helps. I'm certain one of the admins can give you a lot more info than I can, but wanted to share what little bit of chicken nuggets I have. :-)

Hi all, my son Alex is in ship 13, Div094. His PIR is 2/28, can't wait to see him! My other son Eric leaves for Great Lakes on 2/25. Does any one have any thoughts on if our sailor will be able to spend any time with us after PIR? I have read conflicting info and need to know for sure so we can change our Saturday flight if needed. Thank you. I'm in Crofton.

I had been looking forward to meeting everyone all week long. Argh! So frustrated I couldn't make it. At first the guy said y'all weren't there. I said "oh, yes they are, because they're NAVY MOMS!' LOL! He then put me on hold and asked a co-worker. Please let me know when you plan to meet again. Also, if there was any nuggets of information shared, would you mind sharing? :-) Thanks!

Liz, so sorry you won't be there. We will have a next one. Where are you looking for a house? Is there such a thing as a 'perfect house?' For me right now it could be a small shack so long as it's somewhere warm! Good luck this Saturday- hope you like the one you're going to see. Let us know.

I'm doing an anti snow dance! Not sure what that will look like but I'm doing it. I don't want to see one more flake of white stuff coming down!
