For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Hello Fellow MA Moms -- just wanted to wish everyone a great holiday season. It doesn't seem possible, but my son's PIR is coming up on 12/13 and then he heads to Charleston for nuke school. Meeting so many of you has truly helped me through this strange roller-coaster ride. I'm looking forward to continuing this journey together! Best to all. Helen

This from the December Adoption of the "Zappers":
The Zappers are based out of Whidbey Island, Washington and they are currently deployed with CVN75, Harry S. Truman, a Norfolk, Virginia based aircraft carrier, currently under the command of 5th Fleet. We all know where 5th Fleet is so we know their living conditions.
There are many sailors in this group who don't receive any packages, cards or letters from home. Some sailors have resorted to, "ordering stuff online or sending each other stuff in effort to keep the morale up".
As we prepare for the holiday season decorating, writing cards, baking cookies, let's BAKE A BATCH FOR THE ZAPPERS!
They would love to have a touch of home.
To learn more about them and their wish list (which is small) check out the full discussion on Molly's Adopt a Sailor. How sad to have to order something on-line in order to get some mail. I'm sure the Mom of the Month would love some support.
We are New Englanders, we do amazing things. No time for a packing party, but perhaps you can send a box to them and/or Special Hugs??

Has anyone been over to Molly's page lately? Two groups in need of some special Mom love -- Special Hugs project which supports patients at a hospital in the sandbox and the December adoption.
So far just 5 boxes for the patients! They care for over 100, but just over 100 are in-patients.
Let me know if you can get involved.

I am thankful for each and everyone of you and the support and love you have given to me this year. You each are so wonderful and I love you all.

Navy Week is when the Navy publicizes what they are all about. We didn't have any this year because of the sequester. They have tours of ships, the sailors do community service projects. And there were exhibits and a show done by the Blue Angels. It was very exciting for them. Some Molly Moms in IL set up a booth, had a sample box and people could sponsor a box for $25 for the next adoption. They also had beanie babies for "adoption" for $5 the person could write a personal note and it was tied around the neck and they were sent to patients at the Special Hugs hospitals. I know they passed out tri-fold brochures telling people about what we do and they showed videos of some of the interviews we had at the time on a computer. It was a good friend-raiser as well as raising some needed money for MAS. MA Moms couldn't get enough people to do something similar in Boston, but maybe this coming year?!!

I got word from a Mom in Pittsburg, PA that there will be a Navy week there next year. Perhaps now would be a good time to start thinking about what / if we would want to do to make MA Navy Moms known & raise some money for Molly's at the same time.
Anyone interested in starting to plan? When I find out where and when it will happen in Boston, I'll let everyone know.

Sorry I haven't gotten the pics up. Andrew and I are looking for the cord -- we used my husband's camera and we haven't found that stupid cord yet. I know that I've seen it ... just can't remember where I saw it now!

Packing party is over. And, it was wonderfully successful. We packed 40 boxes with all sorts of goodies and some of the items they requested. Besides Chelita's 300 pies in a jar, we also sent 760 Christmas cards for the sailors to use to send to their families and friends at home!!!
Thank you for coming Chelita, John, Tammie and Pat. It was so wonderful to see you again!
