Thanks Anne Marie!  Once I started filling those little goodie bags you sent me they really look good!

We're in the process of sending Christmas to my son.  He absolutely loves every single thing about Christmas!  His wife sent a tree and some lights & the rest of the family are sending ornaments so they can decorate it.  My husband and I are filling 3 stockings (1 for Matthew, 2 for his apt. mates).  They are gonna have so much fun...

Thanks so much for salvaging what we had!  I will send you a check for $13 to cover another box. I would do more, but I just sent 2 big boxes to my son's class at Goosecreek, SC NUke School.

Thanks,

Anne Marie

First, you should know that I feel very uncomfortable writing this message - but here goes...  The packing party scheduled for last Sat. had to be cancelled - too few Moms able to come. Anne Marie sent me her goodies to take to the party.

I have just finished packing up 50+ goodie bags (that Anne Marie found) with lollipops, candy canes (large & small), hard candies and hot chocolate packets that she and I had gathered.  She sent 25 cards & I'm trying to finish 25 more.

The problem is that it will take at least 3-4 boxes to get all the goodies to them and I personally cannot afford more than shipping 1 lg. box ($12.95).  If anyone would like to help me out I would really appreciate it.  I will be frank with you, I just cannot get all the boxes out by our ship by date (11/30).

Most of you have my phone # or email addy.  If you are able to help, please let me know.  Thank you.

ADOPTION IS BACK ON!!  Our adoptees have been changed to the patients at Salerno Hospital.  We can still do what we had planned, just for fewer people.  The hospital's max is 50.  Also they don't have much storage so they have asked for treats, etc. for Christmas Day only.  So maybe we do up 100 - 2 cups of peppermint flavored hot chocolate each.  I will double check with Special Hugs to try and find out how many staff are also there.

The live Christmas tree is still going, so they will need lights and ornaments for it.

Hoping you can make it!!  We are going to make a Christmas Day that the patients will remember!

This just in from Molly's Adopt A Sailor:

ADOPTION CLOSED...

As you know, in the military things can change rather quickly.  Fortunately for our adoptees, but unfortunately for MAS, we have to close the adoption.  If you have a box ready to send, please send ASAP, but otherwise hold onto your items for the very near future.  Stay tuned for more exciting things that are happening!

Jen, Have you been able to reach anyone coming out from the Springfield area yet?  If not, maybe we can arrange to meet somewhere half-way next week.  I only have 1 appt. and that is Tues. at 5pm.  Check your calendar and let's coordinate on this AND then I get to see you again!!!  See I have an ulterior motive...  :)

Do we have any crafty people coming to the packing party?  I just looked at the discussion on Molly's page.  We are sending a real live Christmas tree to the sailors in A'stan and they are looking for ornaments from each state.  Someone want to take this on??

NEWS ALERT:  We are gathering items for 325 Navy Reservists stationed in A'stan -- the Task Group Trident.  We think they are in charge of guarding detainees and training A'stan police.  What a job to have!!

So do you think we can manage 325 sailors??  All we can do is try our very best.

Some want to know what we have so far, so here goes:

120 packets of hot chocolate

2 packages of candy canes

Rolls of ribbon

Miss Debbie Christmas tree cakes

Miss Debbie Christmas tree brownies

Almond-flavored cookies

Keebler chocolate/mint decorated cookies

Kellogg's rice crispies treats, individually wrapped w/red and green sprinkles

Still needed:

More treats

Disposable cups

Scotch tape

Clear packing tape

Do you think we should include dessert size napkins?

Oh yes, and lots of MAIL!  Just a reminder: have you started writing notes and cards yet.  It will be easier if this is done ahead of time then we can just divide them up among the boxes.

Guess that is it for now!
