Hi ladies,
My name is Anne Marie and I live in the SPFLD area. This is all new to me as my son has been at Nuke school since June. I will go to Molly's page to see details, but I would love to be involved. Just keep me in the loop. Thanks for everything you do.
Well, ladies, it is October and that means time for our Christmas adoption! It has been announced on Molly's Adopt A Sailor page, if you want more details NOW :)
My question is this: are we up for a packing party?? It is a small adoption, I think the total is just over 200 sailors. The goal is a box for each sailor to open; a Christmas card, a pillowcase, a candy cane, and any other holiday treats we choose to send.
Time is marching on, so let's figure out what we want to do so we can begin planning. Anyone interested in being a hostess this time around?
South coast MA Mommas?? We can have more than one packing party and have one in your area, just need someone to step up and volunteer to coordinate everything. If you want to do it, but would rather do it privately send me a PM. I think I'm friends with all of you!
First, I'm sorry to say Patty and I were unable to get to The Big E. Things came up Thurs. evening and when we talked, we agreed there was just no way one person could do it alone (it would have had to be Patty). So, no pics, no news ...
Sorry!
We will begin a discussion soon about next year's Navy Week in Boston and what we want to do. Lots of planning and lots of different types of work. Hopefully we can get some Moms from CT, VT, NH and ME to help us out!! So if you know someone from one of those states please start talking to them about 2012 Navy Week, or get their name(s) to either Patty or me.
Thanks.
Morning Everyone!
Just to let you all know that Patty (from RI), a newbie to N4M, has picked up the ball and we are going to have a presence at The Big E. It will only be for one day, Saturday. She is bringing a couple of her nieces to help & somehow, someway I plan to be there too.
Molly's Board is going all out to get us items to really make us stand out. We are borrowing someone's banner/sign, others are sending us beanie babies to adopt, cards to sign, magnets, postcards, trinkets to hand out, a brochure to explain what we do, pillowcases to display, a sample box of goodies so people can choose to adopt a box if they want, etc., etc.
A friend from FL send me a message that her sister just returned to FL after visiting family up this way. She went to the Big E and told Dana that it was huge, the best ever & lots of people.
So, this is your last chance to join in the fun! Let me know ASAP if you can help out.
I've got the dates for next year, but we'll worry about that after this Saturday, 10/1, is over and done with.
Thanks everyone for at least thinking about it.
FYI to everyone: I was contacted by a woman from RI, Patty, who is willing to go for a day, Saturday. She said she would go alone if necessary or try to get a couple of her nieces/nephews who need community service hours to go with her so she wouldn't be alone. I'm thinking about trying to go with her and also contacting the high school looking especially for kids with military family members.
Any takers on this idea?
I do have the info for next year. I will gather everything I have and maybe we should start a discussion so we will be ready. I have dates, contact and contact phone number.
What do you all think? Should we start a discussion and see how it develops??
I thought we could have cards and notepaper so that people could write a note. I have some beanie babies that could be adopted for a nominal fee & the person could write a note to a wounded sailor or marine at Dwyer. If anyone could find a deal on plain white pillowcases, we could have people sign or send a message, kids could draw a picture for either Dwyer or an adoption group. I know that Kimmy P., Lauren, Pat L. and Carol have all done similar things at the Navy Weeks in their areas. But I think we would need at least 6-8 Moms, minimum, to pull it all off.
If you are heading out on the 1st, won't it be too much to do all at once?
If we can't do it this time, maybe I can be put on a list or something so we get more notice for next year.
Found the dates! They are Thurs., 9/29, - Sun., 10/2...
Anybody in?
Hi Everyone!! Just got back from NY and seeing our son, DIL, & of course the g'baby!! Had so much fun I hated coming back. Oh well, ... back to reality.
I had 2 messages on my answering machine from the officer in charge of Navy Week at the Big E. I have to get back to her very soon. BUT, she & her CO want to know if we want a table at the Big E for MA Navy Moms and Molly's?
So, do we?? It would be a great opportunity, but frankly I'm not up to doing it on my own. I have boxes of donated cards we can use to have people sign and send notes on. I also have some Beanie Babies which Special Hugs uses for the wounded, other Moms have had Beanie Babies for people to "adopt" (for a donation) and send a special message. If anyone is willing to help out in some way, please let me know right away.
I forget the dates, but I will look for them and leave another comment. I will also leave a comment on RI Navy Moms to see if they want to participate as well.
Jennifer, would you have time to be involved in this??
Hi Everyone! Got our power back on! YIPPEEEEEE.
Tami pics look great. I am going back on my diet in earnest.... Obviously I need to!
