DON'T FORGET TO VOTE FOR 'SPECIAL HUGS - MOLLY'S ADOPT A SAILOR!!! Yesterday we fell to 11th place - out of the running for any money! Today we are back to #9. But that is a slippery place to be, as we discovered yesterday.
Come on everybody!!! Get busy and vote all 3 ways and ask anyone and everyone to vote for us too. We can do it, it will just take some good ol' hard work.
Let's show Pepsi & the other contestants that NAVY MOMS ROCK THE WORLD!!!!! And, we do it all for America's sons and daughters...
Helen,
If you'd like to come to the charity sewing event, let me know. I can drive up and pick you up so you don't have to drive. Let me know OK?
Hello all,
I'm a proud mama from good ole Cape Cod. My one and only 19 years old bouncing baby boy graduated Feb 2011. He attended A school in Great Lakes. Came home on leave in May for 10 days (not long enough) he met up with ship in Greece. Traveled through different countries ("lucky little sh*t lol) He recently got back to the states ( Florida.) Plan on visiting him in a couple of weeks with his little muffin (girlfriend of 2 years) I can't wait to hug him!!!!!!!!!!!
Welcome Laura!! We are so glad to have you with us. I'm probably 90 minutes or so from you - depending on traffic! There are lots of people on the northshore, you may not hear from some of them for a while because a number of ships have returned from deployment and they will either be greeting the ships or having their kiddos home!
We have a lot of things planned for the next couple of months, especially in August.
On Sunday, Aug. 21st, a quilting shop in N. Attleboro (down closer to me) is hosting a benefit for Molly's Adopt A Sailor. (MA Navy Moms participate in 3-4 adoptions a year, although "Molly's" adopts a unit every month.) It will be a charity event and they will be teaching us how to make pillowcases to send to the troops. You don't have to know how to sew to come, we will need people to cut the fabric, iron seams, iron the finished products, clip threads, lots to do. I have been given a donation to purchase fabric for Navy Moms if we need it. The shop owner has said that we (Navy moms) can bring fabric we have at home if we want to. She will also give a 20% discount off fabric bought that day. Tami, who commented right below you, is coming and she lives up there. The shop will open at 12:30P so we can set up and we will work until 4:30P. Then some of us may go out for a quick supper before heading home, but that is optional. And firm plans haven't been made yet.
Tami is also going to be hosting a packing party the end of August. More on that will be coming soon.
Also, and this is for Everybody too, a BIG announcement will be showing up on this site in about a week.
So welcome aboard! We hope you will get as involved as you want to be. Have a wonderful time at your son's graduation. We'll be here when you get back!
Donna
Hi Everyone.. I am new to this group. My son graduates GL next Friday!! Cannot wait to see him. He then heads off to San Antonio for A school. I live in on the Northshore of MA. Hope to get in touch with someone from my area. Thanks!
Hi Donna and Ma moms. Ist been about 2 or three months since Ive been on. The schedule during the spring Months with the kids and girl scouts is a little insane. Donna, id love to talk with you about getting a meet and greet together. I think thats a great Idea ;) Can we also try to get a packing party together for Sept or October? It would be nice to see the great ladeies we met and hear about how their cubs are doing. Take care all :) Hope to see you real soon
OK, yes it is me - again! Although I must say I feel like the one with the HUGE, BIG mouth here.
But, I have a question. I wasn't here in the beginning so I don't know, perhaps someone can fill me in.
My question is: what exactly is the purpose of Massachusetts Navy Moms? Do we have one? Was there one a while ago, but it has outlived its cause?
We don't get together for meet & greets, we have the occasional packing parties but that is about it. Are there regional groups that get together? I'm just wondering what we are supposed to do - or even what we want to do.
199 members is a force to be reckoned with, if we all put our heads together!
I just feel like a duck out of water - maybe I'm in the wrong place? You can tell me that. I guess I just want to feel like I'm involved in something bigger than myself. I want to be supportive of MA Mom kids wherever they are.
Anyone got any thoughts and perspectives?
Hey, you all voting everyday for 'Special Hugs - Molly's Adopt A Sailor'???
We really need to win this thing. Our Pepsi money runs out in Sept. If we don't win there will be no more packing parties!! At least no packing parties where the shipping costs are covered.
So, come on, step up and help out. You can vote by signing in using your email addy (if you haven't voted this year, you will have to set up an account first - a little different twist in this year's contest), or you can vote thru FB, or by texting 107637 to Pepsi # 73774. If you use each method that is 3 votes from you per day!!! This only goes to July 31st.
It is really worth the time it takes!
FYI: You can only use the power votes when you sign in using your email account. If you have been saving the yellow Pepsi caps, but don't intend to use them, please send them to me. I'll enter the codes and power vote for us!
