Just a question up for discussion.  Molly's June adoption is a group of Sea Bees in Djibouti (pronounced Jah-booty) in Africa.  I forget the total count - around 150, 20 of whom are females.  The theme is holidays - real ones and obscure ones (like for us in MA, Bunker Hill Day or Patriots' Day), also b'days, New Year's Day, Christmas, etc., etc.

Didn't know if someone would like to host a party and pick a holiday?  Or do we want to take on some of the females & do the usual special packages for them - feminine hygiene products, girlie items, etc.

Our last party was small, but we sent out 11 packages stuffed with fun items.  (3 Moms and 1 Dad).  So let's not be put off by small numbers.  We do what we can do.

If you always wanted to be the hostess this is your chance.  I'll be available to help you any way you need me.

Let's move it around - middle or western part of the state, towards the Cape, Fall River/New Bedford area, Andover or towards the northern coast.  The skies the limit...

Jennifer, gomarvalhous - you guys OK?  Anyone else in the western part of the state I'm missing by name, everything OK with you?  Let us know if you are in need.  We are family and are here for you.  God bless you all.

Kathy - I will have several dates for you later today.  Sue (quilt lady) said to stop in today and we'd go over her calendar and pick out dates.  I will post them here so anyone and everyone who wants to help make pillowcases will see the info.

Helen you are such a sweetheart!!  Back surgery??  Is this new?  Oh, please concentrate on taking care of yourself and your hubby ...  I know you will be with us in spirit.

IF, and I do mean if, you have time and especially if you are up to it, some cards and/or drawings by some children would be fantastic.  With school ending pretty soon, I was thinking about how to work that angle.  Now you solved it.

Now, you take good care.  You better let us know when you are at the point where you could use some meals or household help.  I can scoot up 495 to you & help wherever you need me.  REALLY.  Family comes first and that means Navy family too.

Lots and lots of < HUGS >>> to you and your family!      -Donna

Jennifer, thank you.  Thank you so much.  Will be in touch sometime this week even if it is just to chat and get thinks rolling.

He sounds like an amazing young man ... but then again, I think they are all amazing!

Hi Jennifer!  The dates for Navy Week at The Big E are 9/29 - 10/2.  Hey, if we get enough good ideas and too many items, maybe we can really do something at The Big E.  Just duplicate the job I just described!!!  I really am a fund-raiser run-amok aren't I?  LOL  ;P

OK ladies, I'm in need of some serious help here!!  (and no laughing from those of you who know that I don't mind asking for anything for our troops & ask first & figure out later).

I learned on Sat. that my husband's hometown has a Marine coming back who is from the Darkhorse Company.  You know the Marines that have been decimated in A-stan. At the parade today they talked about him and even prayed for him (take that ACLU). His family said their son is very, very concerned about his buddies still there, because when he was hurt so were 2 others & now his unit is down 3 men.  Talk about selfless!  So they asked if the town would collect powerbars, etc. to send to them.  Sick of REMs.

Well, my MIL looks over at me and mouths the word "Molly?" So, I scope out the crowd for the man who just spoke & as soon as the final Taps sounds and the benediction pronounced I head off, a woman on a mission!  Still in tears from Taps, but I don't care - can't let him out of my sight or let him get away and heavens, can't let someone else get his ear first!!

End of long conversation, he is the Chairman of the Board of Selectman!! I tell him about us (MA Navy Moms & Molly's) our adoptions, Dwyer, even Pepsi. Now I've got his undivided attention. I mention that the Marine likely came thru FOB Camp Dwyer, OUR hospital. Since the town wants to do something...will he talk to the family and we can have a packing party for his Darkhorse Company and Camp Dwyer in honor of this young man. He looks me in the eye and says what do you need from me. OK, I'm set now, he asked, I'm going for the "kill"!!!  I tell him a place for people to drop items off, a large place to have a lot of people come & pack preferably with AC - hey ask for the moon, can't hurt, (it is a small town, but you know how small towns work - when someone hurts everyone jumps in), I promise a list of everything we usually pack.  All the while he's nodding and saying Ok or Yes.  Now the "hit", we, Molly's or MA Navy Moms have no money to ship since it is not a legit. adoption.  Wham, I've dropped my bomb...  He looks down, then up and says 'NO PROBLEM!!!!!!"  He is going to talk to the family first since it would be done in this young man's name & if they are agreeable to a larger scale we are off.

OK, here is what I need ... ideas and lots of them!!  We can have 2 things going on - the Marine Co. and Dwyer. I have asked Kimmy P. for any special needs we could have for this that won't duplicate anything else we've done. I've asked the BIG packing party planners for pointers.  As soon as I get the date and place, I'll let you know & also Dana so you can perhaps put me in touch with the Volunteer Match (?).  I want people making cards, is there a way to get materials donated and what have you gotten, same with writing letters.  It is already hot in a-stan, and last yr, I was unable to be involved because of my dad, so any good suggestions for items?  I will look thru old adoptions for ideas too.  But the Selectmen want this to happen while he is at home for his 30 days.  Not much time.  I feel like the Mad Hatter "I'm late, I'm late, I'm late..."

So, little ole MA is about to jump into the Big League with 2 feet & one "big mouth momma"!  Now you can all laugh a whatt I've gone and done.  But, please help me get organized.  First is a list of items for both. Then a sign place (hoping the printing place in town will help me out). We have a Marine Recruiting Station in town, they are at the TOP of my list to help!!

I've asked how to go about accepting cash donations to help. I told my hubby I plan to start on Main/Central Streets and walk down the sidewalk and into every shop/business/restaurant there.  (He asked what's for supper?  Answer: WHATEVER you want to make.)

Well, that's it - for now.  I needed to get you all thinking.  I will be sending some of you PMs for specific help - just warning you upfront :)  This is a daunting thing for me as some of you know, because I'll have to be asking men for help, but this little engine is going to do it!!  So say a little prayer and start sending me some ideas, either here or in a PM.  THANK YOU EVERYBODY.  I know, I'm a professional fund-raiser run-amok!  This isn't how you do things, I'm attacking from the rear & trying to organize forward.

Any and everyone who wants to travel to Foxboro to help me teach how to do a packing party is more than welcome.  Let me know.

We are going to need pillowcases.  I'm going to see the pillowcase lady tomorrow.  She just has to set a date for us!  Kimmy Parks has mentionned that at some of her events she had people "adopt" a beanie baby for a wounded patient.  Anyone know where we can get some free, new beanie babies?

Just jump in anywhere and get me pointed in the right direction(s) and help me come up with some ideas which will really make MA Navy Moms shine.

ONE THING I DO NOT WANT TO DO IS PUT ANY OF YOU IN AN EMBARRESSING LIGHT.  (Or Molly's either.)  Please say something when/if you see me headed off course.

Thank you everyone!

Hey all, just saw a posting that the Bataan lost their FB connection due to OPSEC violations!!  Keep that in mind whether posting here, FB or twitter.  Don't want that happening to any of us.  So just remember,

LOOSE LIPS SINK SHIPS

and, the Navy is watching!!!

OK, I know it isn't The Big E, but does anyone in the area go to Foxboro's Founder's Day celebration??  Got a great idea from one of Molly's Moms today, but right now just looking to see if anyone goes to it.  It is big, but it is pretty much a local area event.  I believe the date is June 11 (or maybe the 18th??).

Please let me know ASAP

I didn't get to call the Lt. Cmd. in charge, but will try an email.  She likely won't get it until Monday, but I'll try.
