Hi Everyone! Just a note to let you know I am leaving the MA Navy Mom group. Just too much going on in my life and I can't manage keeping up with everything. You can always PM me if someone is doing a packing party ... would be glad to help out and see you all.
Take care.
Kathy,
As soon as the woman gets her "patriotic" fabric in I'll let you know and we can work out getting together to go shopping for fabric!!! And, using Pepsi money will make it all the more fun!
I'll keep in touch. Do you have my phone number? PM me if you don't so I can get it to you.
Take care,
Donna
Well, it doesn't look like there are many who can get together in April. Maybe it is just better to hold off until May. I've been so busy writing some grants and the cards and letters to the GW, that I just didn't have the time to contact every member.
Did talk to Sue (the fabric store lady). Looks like it will happen on a Sunday afternoon. She's thinking May, but I hope she remembers that Mother's Day is in there and then we have Memorial Day too!! I'm a little disappointed at how slow she is going with this. I was hoping we'd have pillowcases for our next packing party. Oh well... It will happen eventually & I have to learn not to be in a rush all the time!!
Don't know if any of you are closely following the budget issue in DC, but learned the N4Ms in IL have organized a "call your rep. & senators". I was so disgusted with the news this morning I called my representative and both senators. You'll have to get your area's rep info. (I found everything I needed on www.ask.com )
Here are the senators info:
Sen. Scott Brown 202-224-4543 email: scottbrown.senate.gov/public/index.cfrm/emailscottbrown
Sen. John Kerry 202-224-2742 email: Kerry.senate.gov/contact
Tell them you want the military funded through the end of the year. I also told them they were a disgrace to accept a paycheck when they are NOT doing their jobs. The military ARE doing their jobs and they deserve their pay. Congress and the Senate AND the president do not & if they were real men/women with any principals they would not accept any more pay from the taxpayers of this country for whom THEY work until they get busy and go to work. I told them to tell the president to stay home and stop taking all these trips. If he doesn't want to live in the White House, we as voting taxpayers can arrange for him to leave. They didn't sound too happy, but they took the messages, which they are required by law to do. But hey, their bosses don't work so why should or would they? We can only hope...
Jean C, I hope that your surgery goes well and your recovery time isn't too long. We would surely love to have YOU and any other RI Moms in the area. The more the merrier!!
I was a little worried you'd think I was crazy sending you the message. We'll look at places south of the Pike more closely, thinking about those RI Moms who would like to get involved in something.
Thanks for commenting. Please keep us informed on how everything goes with your shoulder. Will be thinking of you and wishing you well.
Donna
One last thing, I promise!! Don't forget in Feb. we talked about a packing party in April ... now it could be May, so we need to keep that in mind?
If we do go out in April, what are your feelings about adopting just one to four sailors? I saw some on Molly's website who have been waiting to be adopted for some time now. Look it up and see what you think. It is: www.mollysadoptasailor.com
Here's what you need to vote on:
Moms Only or include "Dads"?
Lunch or Dinner?
Choice of places:
Cheesecake Factory in Natick?
Outback? Choice of towns: Westboro, Norwood, Randolph, Bellingham?
Melting Pot in Framingham? (Has anyone been to one of these, apparently they are a small chain in MA??)
Date? April 9, 15 or 16. or make it May and go with the 6th or 7th (note, the 8th is Mother's Day) Did you notice we just flew thru April and into May?
I tried to find some places that are just east of Worcester. All are in the area of 495, the Pike (just 2), or 95/128. I called Outback about their Red, White & Blue menu, but it ends soon.
Shall we plan to make it lunch? Then we drive in the daylight? Shall we include Navy Dads/Step-Dads/Significant Other Dads? Or make it girls' day out only??
If we include the men do we want to make it for dinner? That will cost more, but is up for discussion and vote too.
Priscilla, If some of the western moms don't respond & there is no interest we will definitely make it closer. No sense driving & it turns into the same Moms from the eastern part of the state. Jennifer, of course, is the exception she drives in from beyone Worcester every time. Thank you Jennifer for being so faithful!!
Helen, I would like to keep it away from Easter as well. When would you be leaving?
I'm with you on night time driving. I really try to drive at nite only if someone is with me!
