Dawn, glad that you were able to spend time with your daughter!! I know how wonderful that can be. Just found out mine will be underway and will not make her brother's high school graduation. So I'm have mixed emotions about her missing such an important occasion but from what she's told me she will get to see some awesome places while underway!

Yes, MSU did a great job getting to the championship game and I'm proud of them (even though I'm a true Wolverine, go blue) since they were representing MI I was all in for green. Bet they'll be back and better next year!!

Nancy so glad your son was able to visit with you and his child!! That was a true blessing that someone stepped up to do that for him.

MI moms I'm still waiting for spring to continue and melt the snow currently clinging to my daffodils. lol good night all

charlie, that is such a neat program to support. I didn't know anything about it, but will check it out when I get off this website. I have some old cell phones that I would like to donate. I also have a SIL in Afghanistan right now and he only calls my daugher once a week because the phone is 2 miles down the road from his base & the connection is only for 15 minutes at a time.

Lisa, my heart is breaking for you. I can totally feel your pain and understand how much you miss your son. You are in my prayers that all this will be straightened out so that they both can make it home soon. Also, thank God that your boss is so understanding. Just remember, God has is reasons and timing & it isn't always for us to understand. He is in complete control of the situation. Best wishes & God Bless everybody.

Deb, that is so awesome. It's it comforting to know that some many people care about our troops. All we hear on the news is ususally the negative, but we can say first hand how awesome people can be. I love that your students can have a first hand connection through you to your son and our troops. Keep up the good work. I know that the troops really do appreciate all we do when we send them care packages. My SIL is station in Afghanistan right now with the AF and I have sent 2 pkgs myself. That's not counting what my daughter (his wife), SIL's mother & my mother have sent. It is so much appreciated! Thank you for your work & their caring for them.

You ladies are making me cry with your comments of the phone calls from your son's. I totally understand what it is like to wait for that phone call because you don't know when you will be able to talk to them again. Deb, I had the same situation when my son was in BC about not wanting to miss the call while at work. I work in a preschool/daycare and we could get fired if we are using our cell at work. My co-workers & the Director were very understanding when I got a call from Allen. They allowed me to bend the rules and take whatever call I got from him. Chris~Tony it is awesome that your son could call from Iraq on his birthday. You are both in my prayers as is everybody on this website & the sailors.

Nancy, Go to the group "sub moms" there are some awesome picturs of the Hartford. If you go into the discussion titled photographs there are also some very awesome pictures of the USS Annapolis sub at the artic circle. One of the dads is a former suber and he has a wealth of information on the operations of the subs and all. It is very comforting. Robert is still in sub school down at Kings Bay but I worry still I know it is what he wants to do, that and walk on Mars if he can get into NASA so I think subs are better.
