Hello, all. My son, who's in the THU right now, should be heading down to SC in about a week or so (we hope!) for Nuke School. I think then we'll feel like things will be really getting started for him, since he was injured during boot camp and things were delayed.

It's fun with the PIR groups, but I like the idea of being part of the Michigan Moms group!

Ruth, I love your sons posting. He really has a great way of thinking it out. I hope the best for him.

My son will be going to the Navy clinic in Sasebo. He's coming home Monday, we are meeting a friend at Sawyer, MI and bringing him home. He flies out of Chicago on Oct. 5 so we'll have a few days. He has lots of friends he wants to see too.

Hope everyone is doing well. My son was home for a short visit, only 5 days, as he is going back to the Middle East very soon. It sure was wonderful to see him.

btmom - will your son be working on base or assigned to one of the ships?

Good luck to your son Ruth on his decision, how long has he been a corpsman? Mine just finished school on Aug 31, coming home next week (I can't wait) and then headed to Sasebo, Japan for 3 years.

With the other two K's going back to school, Diego was able to sleep in and can for another two weeks. We did errands together today and was able to have lunch at Applebee's. It was so nice to have some time together. Tonight, his dad's truck pukes on the expressway and he had to go and get him. So, he gets some dad time tonight. Funny how some things work out. I will be going on a cruise from the 16th through the 20th with one sister, four nieces, and about 20 other wild women. I feel so bad for going and missing the last five days of him being home. He tells me, "Mom, you have had me for the past 18 years. Go on your cruise, I will be home again."Out of the mouths of babes as my mom always said. I want to have a great time, but I know that I will be thinking I wish I were home.........................*sigh*

My daughter Katie is in Japan - we are from Ypsilanti, but I was raised in Lansing the daughter of not just an MSU alumnus, but the original MAC before it became MSU. When we were on the USS Essex Gator Cruise this summer, we met Katie's captain who is from Lansing. Also met the wife of the GW on our travels, who is from Warren and the Captain is from Macomb.
