Just wanted to share how happy my son is to have phased up and finally wear civvies again and leave base. Unfortunately I sent the wrong jeans. You would think in MS he would be happy to wear shorts. Ha

Sharon that is new to me. When Rob went in 2 yrs ago from Troy we went to MEPS for the swearing in. It was great. And the Marine Col who did the swearing in was very supportive and accomindating to the families. Maybe it has changed.

QUESTION: I spoke with our friend yesterday and her son left for GL on the 18th. They left out of the MEPS office in Troy, they spent the night at the Marriott in Troy to be with her son until he left. She told me that they were not allowed to go to MEPS to witness the last swearing in. Remember, we have two new female recruiters at the office they have been working with for the past year and the guys they worked with are no longer there. One female is a CS and the other is a "Reservist" and she said she "is trying to be a recruiter." What??? Anyway, if anyone knows if we can witness or not witness the swearing in please let me know before I start making phone calls. Thanks!!!

@Lorraine, I know that I can always come here and vent, cry, sniffle or anything I need to do and it will be o.k. to do that. I so apppreciate the support. I can oer worry at times and this happens to be one of them. He is calm about things, though I think when it is "the day" he will be a bit nervous. I am leaving to go on a cruise from the 16th~20th and he leaves on the 21st. I totally messed up, going with my sister, 4 nieces and about 20 other gals. I have to come to terms of this too, so that is added stress for me. I will spend that week before I leave with him so I'm thinking we will be good. Thanks again!

They are home from Hilton Head!!! The vacation is over and they are already sleeping. They drove straight through, so they have been up since yesterday morning. It was a great time for them and they loved S.C. That is where Deig will be for Nuke school so they got a taste of it now. His girlfriend has to move in at Eastern next weekend, so they will be apart during the week. That will be a change, they are always together and have a great relationship and we love her! Thank you God for getting them home safe!!!!

Thanks Ruth, but we didn't go with him to Hilton Head,. He and his girlfriend drove down. I have been missing them all week, they should be pulling in the driveway within the hour. It has been strange not having him here, it is a lesson for when he does leave next month. Each day will be trying, but I know that I will get though it. Thanks again!

CathieRenee, 20 months is a long time! I hope you get your visit very soon and that you all have a great reunion.

Ruth...DEMERITS for saying the "snow" word!
My son has the Expert Marksmans ribbons for both rifle and pistol. He has discovered that he likes shooting. We're still waiting to see if his leave will be approved. It's 20 months now since the last time he was home.

Sharon, my son was 19 going on 20 when he went to BC in 2009. I always felt like I'd given him a lot of freedom but he was still anxious to exert his independence. So don't stress about this change in his life - the Navy will take good care of Diego! And God will be watching over you both the entire time.

You are all so funny................the stories you share make me laugh and right now I need to do that. I am getting stressed that we have less than 30 days to go. I want things to go smooth and work out great for Diego. He has been on vacation in Hilton Head, S.C. all week, due home tomorrow evening to watch his younger brother play in his first varsity football game. Hubby will be there as we have to split things again as I have a cousin's wedding reception. I pray that God take this stress away and put peace there instead. Keep the stories coming!!!!
