Thanks Ruth. I actually dated a young man that went into the Navy, so went through BC with him (but that was 24 years ago, I am sure a lot has changed). It just seems so different when it is your own. I will be writing like crazy for sure. I am on Boot Camp moms already. Just found the MI group last night. I knew I wasn't the only one from this state. I will definitely keep in touch.

Thank you for the encouragement. My emotions are all over. I gave him a few short letters I had written him already. He let me know he appreciated it because he needed to be reminded that I love him and am proud of his choice and accomplishments so far in life. He is my baby of two and his brother is impaired so he struggled for my attention for 15 years before his brother moved out. So the past 5 years we have become very close. I am already dreaming of pir. It is going to be great. I will definitely need advice on where to stay.

Welcome Jaz04. My daughter joined the Navy 10-8-08, PIRd in Dec and was off to Japan for 3 years by Apr 09. I can still remember the anticipation of receiving 'the box' and her first letter, getting her address so I could write and such, then looking in the mail each week for a letter. I wrote to her most days and had her brothers and sister write a few times as well. Then it was the planning for graduation and the whoel WONDERFUL experience of that.

Hi everyone. I'm joining tonight since my son goes to Lansing on Monday and to GL on Tuesday. At times I am not sure of my feelings. You know, pride, happy, sad, anxious. Most of all proud that he has chosen to serve his country. He will be heading in to the Seabees as a builder. Off to Mississippi for a school after pir. So much new for both of us. I would love to hear from you all to know what to expect.

That is wonderful news for your son Adele-MA Mom.
marianne- Katie will get it soon.
Went to the USS Silversides today and things look good for the M&G. Waiting for one more phone call and I will post it on the Events Calender. I'm getting excited.

Congratulations to Andrew and Melissa!

Katie was one of those who passed the test, but ' as you put it ' the percentages were tight and she didn't get promoted this time. She seems OK with it and will just go for it in the fall.

Got to wear my 'Proud Navy Mom of a Nuke Sailor' shirt to the parade this morning. Even our little town has a wonderfully patriotic celebration on Memorial Day.

Will this be an early afternoon event? (I hope). Thanks.

Shelby,
I would be interested in coming. Aug 14th would work, the weekend before (the 7th) would not be a good weekend for me.
