WaterLily - Yay!  Glad to hear things are falling into place for your sailor and even better that you got to visit.  Thankfully you got that visit in last weekend because with everything going on now it probably wouldn't be happening this weekend.  It's nice to hear that he is excited too - that's the best news today!

Hi all - Happy Friday.  Hubby and I were in Cabo for the last week - just got back to work yesterday.  Sheesh everything has gotten crazy with the coronavirus while we were gone.....I can't believe how many things have been cancelled/postponed. Wow!  I'm not trying to make light of it because it is serious - but this is just a little reminder.....

UPDATE: THE SPRING BREAK PARTY HAS BEEN CANCELLED AS A SAFETY MEASURE. WE WILL RESCHEDULE FOR A LATER DATE ONCE COVID-19 IS NO LONGER AN ISSUE AND BEGIN RE-SELLING TICKETS AT THAT TIME (INCLUDING VET SPONSORSHIP).

Waterlily - That sounds great!  Glad things are going well and he is looking forward to his training and move to Norfolk.

Hi fellow Michigan moms!  I have to share:  I got to spend the weekend with my sailor and I am still smiling!  You may remember I shared how he was being re-rated due to not making it through his A-school (JCAC) in Pensacola where he's been since September.  He was in hold for awhile, then re-rated to EN, then in hold some more.  He got his orders and it worked out that I could fly down on Thursday, then share the drive up to Great Lakes with him on Sat & Sun.  We had all day Friday (after he did his final check-out down there) of quality R&R and then he packed up his car and we started our road trip.  My husband and daughter met up with us in North Chicago yesterday where we grabbed some pizza, had a long leisurely meal, and then he checked in at the Navy Lodge where we were able to hang out as a family some more.  We came back home last night and now my sailor is checking in at Great Lakes - his orders say he'll class up this Thursday so things are moving right along for him.  He is really excited about this new direction and will be reporting to Norfolk (USS Mesa Verde) in early June.

I just want you all to know how much I've appreciated your support as my sailor continues this journey.  Becoming a military family is an adjustment, for sure. But your words of encouragement help me more than you know!

SubMom, that event sounds fun!  I wish I was available on that day to attend.  Thanks for sharing it with us, though.  How do we sponsor a vet?

Comment by SubMom on March 6, 2020 at 2:38pm

I have tickets in hand!
Please message me if you are interested.
If you cannot attend, please consider sponsoring a Vet.

If there are any families in the Plainwell / Kalamazoo area that are interested in attending the South-Kent Blue Star Mothers (South-Kent Mi-191 Chapter) Beach Party please let me know. I will be picking up tickets tomorrow. The event will be on March 21 at the Amvets Post 23 in Kentwood. Tickets are $15.00 per person and includes dinner, dance, and games. There will also be a silent action. Proceeds benefit active military, veterans and honoring our fallen. Doors open at 5:00 pm
