WaterLily - so happy you were able to see your son! I’m hoping to get down to Pensacola this spring - I need a family fix and a beach fix! Your sons birthday is the same day as my husbands. I hope he has a wonderful birthday!! Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Doing the Happy Dance for you WaterLily!

WaterLily - That is great that you were able to see your son and spend time with him in FL.  Driving a car down to him sounds familiar ;)  We have done that twice out to Norfolk for our daughter when she was stationed there.  Hopefully you will be able to visit him again and enjoy those beautiful sugar sand beaches that you described.

Thanksgiving Blessings to all our military families!

I got to see my sailor this past weekend!!!  My husband, daughter & I drove a car down to him on Friday (15+ hours, straight through, but worth every minute!) and were able to spend Friday night and all of Saturday with him before heading back yesterday.  We hit a high of 76 degrees Saturday afternoon in Pensacola so we were wearing shorts and t-shirts, wandering down the white sugar sand beach along the gulf......I did NOT want to come back to dreary Michigan, LOL.

Our sailor's birthday is on Thanksgiving Day.  He'll be on duty that day, so it was great that it worked out for us to head down for an early celebration.  He'll be in A school there until mid-late April, give or take, so I sure hope we get another chance to visit while he's in the beautiful Pensacola area.

Happy Thanksgiving & hugs to all you beautiful Michigan moms.

WaterLily - tell your son not to laugh too hard if Pensacola shuts down due to a "dusting" of snow. If they get an inch life stops! I love making fun of my family when they tell me how cold it is at 30 degrees and a hard freeze :) I do miss the beach and Gulf though!

Yes, layers for sure!  I'm a huge fan of tech fabrics, SmartWool socks & down puffer coats - warmth without the bulk.  It's been a weird stretch for much of the country.  My sailor is in Pensacola and they're struggling to get warmer than 60 today, with highs next week only forecast in the mid-50's!  I would love those temps here in MI, but I'm sure that feels so cold in FL right now.

B'sNukeMoM - just remember to wear layers! If possible get wicking top and bottom. I have been in MI for over 25 years and am still NOT acclimated. Layers are definitely my friend!

SubMom - plenty warm here in SoCal!  Heading to NE next week to visit younger son and it's going to be really cold!!!! Looking forward to seeing him but not looking forward to the cold lol!
