Have a Question!....Ok so i was thinking that when we go to the meet and greet on the 26th if we could do a care package for the troops.  Has anyone ever done one of these?  I haven't a clue what to do where to send and what to send.  Is it a bunch of little packages or one big package.  Full of what?  shampoo, soap or goodies for munching?  What do you all think?  Just want to send somethings to those Servicemen/women to let them know we respect and appreciat what they are doing for us all.

Today was a Papa Vino's day. We left snowy southern Michigan and headed to partyly sunny Grand Rapids for my belated birthday treat. We arrived back home tonight to 4" of fresh snow. So much for the "light" snow that was predicted. But was glad to enjoy some sunshine elsewhere in the state.
Colleen, your dedication to running is amazing! It must really make you feel good.

btmom, my sailor is on the Stockdale.  They are deployed.  I'll get his call one of these days.  I'm going to email him.  You guys on the other side of the state got it and we didn't - this time.  We are slated to get 2-4 starting tomorrow night.  Can't wait - NOT!  I have slipped and fallen a couple of times running.  I try to run on the lightly snowy parts - better traction.  If it's too icy, I take baby steps.  If it's really icy, I just don't go.  At my age, I don't need to break anything.  Sometimes I wear those Yaktraks, if I know that the route is 100% snowy.  When it's dark out, I also wear that head lamp thing and lots of reflective wear so I can see where I'm going and so people driving cars can see me.  As for the snow and cold, we can just jump forward to May.  I want heat!!

Wow, we did not expect 3-5 more inches of snow today--maybe 1-3.  I know we haven't gotten nearly as much as many have, but I am tired of it.

Colleen - that is wonderful that you can run so much.  There are 2 ladies in my Bible study that probably run like you.  I'm not a runner, but I do try to walk.  After we shoveled the 5" of snow we got this afternoon we took the dog for a walk.  Most of the neighbors hadn't shoveled and there was ice underneath.  At one point Zeke went too fast and I slipped and fell.  Always wonder how you ladies run in the snow safely.

Hey Dunesmom, I ran 10.25 miles today.  I try to run 5 days a week.  I'm a maniac.  I do solve most of the world's (and my) problems when I'm out though.  If the president wants my opinion on stuff, he should call me!  The snow slowed me down, so it taught me patience.

Uli, do you want me to pick up the cheesecakes, umm i mean pick you up on my way to Rockford?  Have fork will travel....

Oh Colleen, just call him, he won't mind, you got to get your Sailor fix lady!  I've been really sobby this week, not sure why this week is so hard. I messed up and watched the ending of a movie called adopt a sailor.  Oh i cried and cried.  So tell me how far do you run, each day too? Wish that was something i could do, but we'll talk about that later.

Hugs to all and tissues too!

Colleen - so sorry you missed hearing from your son, but it is wonderful that he was able to talk with Dad on his birthday!  Hopefully soon it will be the right time for a call for you.
