Molly's special hugs are headed for a medical clinic in Kuwait! This is kind of like a MASH unit. Guys and gals pass through this clinic for medical care! So our mission this month is two fold- take care of the wonderful staff that puts themselves on the line every day and send some mom love to those wounded warriors coming through the clinic on their way to Iraq and Afghanistan.

Our contact, a Navy nurse says "We get along well in our unit for being strangers to each other, but that is the beauty of being in the military you adapt and overcome. We do that together. We are here to help out the Army medically and we are getting used to their differences. I am glad I was chosen to come here, but I look forward to going home as well. I have 3 boys at home, ages 13, 3, and 1. They are being taken care of by my husband and mother. You can't imagine how much I miss and need them."

So our mission
For the staff- A unit of 20 men and 10 women, some single, some married with children. The women have requested tampons, pads, liners, body sprays, lotions and powders, and finger nail polish (no bright colors). The men have received some packages but would like deodorants and foot powders and such. They do have microwaves so think of fun snacks! They have also requested individual drink mixes! These wonderful caretakers share what they have with those passing through so lets shower them with love!

For the patients- what is better than a note from someone who cares? When you are hurt and far from home a few kind words mean so very much! So lets stock this clinic with cards and letter that they can hand to those brave injured warriors! Along with those wonderful notes, let's send trial size lotions, eye drops, toothpaste and toothbrushes and more! The wounded warriors passing through can pick up what they need and slip it into their pocket with that precious note from home! This clinic serves 40 or more injured in a normal day.

We want to ship our packages from October 24th to October 30th!

I made these special for this group. check out the chili pepper one. the bottom is hot pink with white stars.

I actually snet about 12 more mini shampoos. don't like to photograph if I am unsure if I can fit it in. There 56 letters-check out the art work.
Both the pillowcases and the cards are just wonderful! I can't wait to hear what they think of all the love headed their way!
My boxes will be mailed on Friday. My day off. I have them packed and ready, just have to get to the post office. My boyfriend was amazed at how much stuff can fit into a box. He thought I overbought....silly man. There is lots to share if the recipients feel so inclined. Its good to know that so many are being schooled up in the world of giving to those who serve.
Hi all, I am new to the group. How does this work? Do we send individual packages labeled male or female in a big package to the contact person listed in the MAS site? Do we just everything all together in one big box? I recently heard that the post office will not accept things addressed to 'any service person'. What about cards? I would like to send things, but I don't know how to do it, and I did not see the instruction page (I may have missed it somehow!). Anyway, thanks! Ann

The post ofiice won't deliver to any sailor but we have a person with the unit willing to hand out the mail we send them. So we use there name in the address form. Since they know we are doing this we put on molly' adopt a sailor lables on the outside so he knows it from us. He will give them out, put any female on line under his name and he will know it is to a female. I just put it all in one box, others make boxes for males and females
http://www.navyformoms.com/group/masweshiplove address is in here. After joining go back in to the room and go into Oct discussion for the address. It is here so public can't just get it and send bad things to our guys.
Custom forms also need to be filled out get them for the post office.
Now you ready to have fun. There is no wrong way to do this just send lots of love and your set.
Hoped I helped and not confused you.
Thanks, Tina. the info was very helpful. I did not know about the customs forms. Thanks again, hugs! Ann
That is a good idea ---- I dont know how to keep it on top though so it doesnt get lost in the bunch of threads ??
Hugs to you all --------I got mass amounts of trail size to pack into boxes for Kuwait now.
I need to mail my boxes that I took from the IL meet n greet but I'm very intimidated on how to fill the forms out. Can someone take a picture of how theirs is filled out and send it to me in a PM so I can see it? I think that would help. Thanks everyone.
Julie, I'll go to your page and walk you through it. Will that help? Pat
Laura --- here is why I would rather do a thread and try to keep it on top. ( I know there is a way to force a thread to stay on top, I just dont know how to do it)
IF we did another group ---there is a chance that the new group starts to chat and talk, and then we loose our chatting and ideas flowing through this main group :( We get so many good creative ideas in here we dont want to thin the ideas because of 2 places !!
Have you ever put in your edit "feature this blog?" Then, even if all you do is go to the blog and put in a period or squiggle, it will keep on pushing it to the top I believe.
