My daughter is at Naval station great Lakes. She grad RTC on 14 Jan 11. Trying to help her find the LDS services , what chapel, what time? anyone know the answer? bless her heart she walked in the freezing cold to the wrong chapel early this morning so she gave it a good try . She went to church every Sunday while at Bootcamp, but has not found LDS connection now at Naval station Great Lakes.

Help if you can please. Thanks, April

Our son surprised us by catching an earlier flight so he ate, took a nap and is off to his friends already.  It is great to have him home.

We get to pick our son up tonight.  He gets to stay for almost 2 weeks.  He was really sad about the tabernacle, as we all are but I'm sure he will want to go see it.  I hope you all have a Merry Christmas.

Camille & Marianne - Thank you so much for the info and invite. Marianne I will send you a friend request to get the additional info. I talked to him last night and he sounded better and found out a couple of friends from Great Lakes are on their way to VA sometime in the next week or so.

Thank you Marianne. I know for myself without my church family I would be rather lonely so I know in my heart that Jake needs to also embrace a church family while he is away from us. Now I just need to convience him of that........

Hello Sisters, It's been awhile since I have been on to comment here. First of all my thoughts and prayers are with you and your sailors. My son Jake landed in Norfolk, VA just yesterday and is stationed in Little Creek, VA. His ship is at sea so he's in temp housing till they decide what to do with him. He wasn't assigned a sponsor like most are so he's pretty much on his own right now. I'm a little worried that he will get so lonely and sad over the hollidays so I want to find out information on wards/branches close to Little CReek where he can maybe attend church or church activities. Does anyone have information on the area regarding church, missionaries etc in the Little Creek, VA area. Maybe if he knows there is church at least might bring him back in and help him get comfortable with his new base.

PollyAnna - my heart goes out to you too. My son finished Nuke school about a year ago. Then went to Prototype and Sub school after that. It was really rigerous. He spent many long hours on base. (They can't study off the base) They have a test every week. He always took Sunday off and went to church what a blessing for him to have a good ward there. So I'm sure your son and daughter-in-law will have a good experience with the church in SC. Good luck to you and him. It's still a lot of hard work, but now it's mostly mental.

Hello,
I asked my recruiter but he honestly didn't know...
I'm an endowed male and I was wondering if any of you had any knowledge from your sons experiences as whether or not you can wear garments in RTC... I assume I can, I'm really just curious as to if I should. My reasoning is isn't the a group laundry? And won't my PT shorts be too short? Of course I would prefer to wear them but in an extenuating circumstance such as this...
Any advice would be grand
