Oleander,

Hi, we had a great visit.  It was so great spending time with her for both our birthdays.  I got to have her here for her 21st birthday and then for my... too!  The time went by very fast, she tried to fit everything in and of course people feel slighted when they don't get to visit, but it is what is.

She is doing well over there, one more year and we will see where the next adventure leads.  The biggest complaint is of course the heat and the fact that they don't have a Wal-Mart or Target, lol!

Blondie - let me guess your news - you are pregnant!?

Comment by Oleander on August 18, 2016 at 11:37am

Hi everyone!

Super busy summer isn't it? My sailor came home a couple of weeks ago while our oldest who lives back east was here. We had a mini family reunion that also included my son & 5 year old grandson - the house was busy, loud, fun, and full of love. It was also full of dirty dishes since we all love to cook LOL. Then a few days later I joined my husband on a business trip to NY City for a week and were able to see our oldest and her husband for the week. Good times but the city was a steam bath during that heat/humidity wave! We were still able to walk 4 - 5 miles in the park in the mornings but were drenched by the time we got back to our hotel.  Must say, it was a welcome relief to come home to 105 dry heat.

Welcome new moms! Like Anna said, hold on tight because the roller coaster ride of emotion is fast & furious. We made it through and so will you.

Blondie, you've really had a tough time haven't you? I hope your migraine is finally gone and things are settling down for you. The pics you posted are so darn cute! When I first found this site I think you were planning your daughter's wedding, wasn't it a western theme? I remember the pics and loved all of your unique and warm decorations.

JayDee, so glad you got to spend time with your daughter and had the bonus of your husband home to celebrate your anniversary -- happy belated!

cjbmom- get all the hugs in that you can! Looking forward to seeing some pics. How's she doing over there? It's so hard to have them leave once they've been home, sending you a hug.

Safe travels Anna! Enjoy your family time!

I looked up  unicorn recruiting.   It means you are getting the rare person who can do --everything you need-- and is an excellent candidate.  Used in employee recruitment apparently.  So. Good job Navy Fairy Unicorn!

My daughter met with the recruiters today, and things went amazingly well. The one odd thing was, he called her a "unicorn" recruit. Which I'm not sure exactly what it means. However, a year ago she was in NJROTC, and the Captain gave her a pair of sparkly fairy wings as a senior year gag gift. So now we are calling her our Navy Fairy Unicorn.

Wow, I am so far behind!!  Hubby and I are still in PA, and we've been visiting lots of his family who are still in the area.  Plus he had his 50th high school reunion which had events for 3 days!!  On top of that we have real spotty internet service so I have days when I can't get on!!!  Arghhhh!!  Tomorrow we head to Northeast Ohio to visit my sister for a few days!!  Coincidentally it lines up with a wedding of a very dear friend of both my daughters and my girl Catherine will be coming in for the wedding on Friday (Jennifer is on deployment or I'd have both of them!!).  We will only get a couple days to visit with her but as we all know, we take any little bit we can!!!!

Now, to catch up with you Moms - -

JayDee,

Oh what fun - planning a wedding with the sailor bride tied up most of the time!!!  I remember going through all of that - twice, both daughters!!!  I wish you all the best and try to hold on to that mind!!!  LOL

Roliesmom,

Holidays deployed are hard!!  I feel for your girl.  Tell her Happy Birthday from this NavyMom also!!

cjbmom,

So happy that your girl was able to come home for a quick visit!!!  Shame that she had flight problems though!!  Looking forward to the pictures!!

Chloe_Cat,

Oh Momma, get ready for the roller coaster ride of your life!!!  I had a hard time adjusting to sending my daughter off years ago and I am a Navy vet myself!!!  It's just so different when it's our own kids, and especially our girls.  Now she's a Navy vet herself and her twin sister is still serving, along with an older brother!!  Stick with us we will help you through!!

Will be sending you and our other new members a personal welcome!!

Welcome Chloe-Cat! There are a lot of emotions! I am incredibly proud of my daughter but feel so lost and lonely without her. I think you're right, its different with a spouse than with a child because its a different kind of love. My daughter was gone for her 19th birthday and it just about killed me that I couldn't talk to her and hug her.

You found a great group of mom's here! I can't imagine this journey without them.

Have you read the book "Be safe, love mom"? If nit go grab a copy and some tissue. Her insights are wonderful and so helpful!

Hi, all! I just joined and am thankful to read all of the supportive comments. I was an Army wife - which was so much easier than being a Navy mom to my 17 year old daughter. She will be at BC during her 18th birthday. We are so proud of her, but that emotion is all mixed up with so many other emotions that I am finding it harder and harder to hold it all together before we kiss her goodbye. Your posts give me strength and I am grateful!

Blondie so sorry about your losses. It is so hard to lose someone you love. Also, hope your health gets better soon. When it rains it pours doesn't it. The baby girl is adorable.

cjbmom how nice to have your girl home!  Store up the hugs.  Mine left a week ago and I still miss her even though she was only home for two days.  Good news is that I'll see her again in just over 2 months.

Roliesmom,  I try to keep busy so I don't remember that I don't have anything to do.
