Wow, hot weather here too! Monday and Tuesday I had the ac going. Yesterday and today the swamp cooler will work just fine as we will only get to 99 today.

Tuesday all our kids were here, (except for 1) for a Thankgiving stlye breakfast. It was soo very wonderful to have almost all our kids back under 1 roof again. Its been a few years since thats happened. To see them all as adults and in relationships, its simply wonderful. Two of my daughters and a boyfriend went back home to the Oakland area yesterday. My sailor and her boyfriend go back to VA on Sunday. The days are going by slowly, which I am greatful for....but i know Sunday is right around the corner. This was the first time meeting my sailors boyfriend. Nice young man, pleasant and easy to talk to. He ranked up to Petty Officer earlier this month, so YAY for him. He and my sailor will start the ESWP process together. She says, when they go underway or get deployed because everone will be there to give them training and to get this done. They will be deployed next year for awhile. Im not freaking out yet but we'll see next year. As for now, Im just enjoying the time I do have and looking forward to Christmas, when they'll all be back.

Hey JayDee - if your plane gets diverted to Cali I'll meet you in San Diego. The weather there is perfect! ; )

Comment by JayDee659 on June 23, 2016 at 11:33am

Well it was 83 here at 6:00 this morning and I thought I was dying.  We have high humidity which makes it almost unbearable.  I'm headed out west on vacation later this summer, hope it cools down a little.  If my plane can't land I'm going to ask for a parachute!

When we lived in Ohio as a little girl there was a spot at the end of the street where the asphalt was mended with tar.  On hot days we used to go pop the tar bubbles that would form.  I guess that was the pre-cursor of popping bubble wrap, and yes, I love to pop bubble wrap.

Yes, I heard that on Monday while at the airport waiting for my flight home from San Diego. Made me worry a bit about being able to land in Vegas since it happens here too.

I used to have to call on customers in Laughlin. I remember walking across the parking lots in the summer and having my heels make holes in the asphalt. One day the temp gauge in my car registered 138 while in a covered garage down there. Of course that was radiant heat from the pavement -- but I reeeealy didn't want to get out of my air conditioned car! Desert living at it's best.

Military aircraft must be regulated differently...we do have several bases in az as well as the training in gila bend.

Yeah, come on monsoons:). It was 90 here at 350a this morning
Comment by spyder013 on June 23, 2016 at 11:23am
Yep, flight was coming to phx from Texas and turned around. It sounds like smaller aircraft need to have less heat in order to perform safely. Think they said larger aircraft can perform up to 122 degrees...smaller 117. It was 118 when they turned around.

Geeeeeez! That's unlivable! When my sailor was riding w/ a trainer there she had to be in the arena already working at 5:30 am. during these months. They rode til 9 or 9:30 then stopped for the day. Too hot!!! Next stop, monsoon season.
