Hey dunesmom. There is a best western on 17 just down from the base that looks ok. There is also a new hotel well refurbished hotel with a new name right there also it is called the Astoria. It just opened so it may have good rates and everything new. If you pull up a map look for the intersection of hwy 17(aka Park Ave.) and 295. There are several other hotels right in there. There are some nicer ones on wells rd just off hwy 17. Would maybe be only 1/2-1 mile further.
Well here i am again asking for help from those of you who live in the JAX area. Tried to make lodging on the base and they are full up. Darn kid waiting til the last minute to tell us if he was graduating or not. any info for a nice, clean and safe place to stay that will not cost a fortune? Your help is greatly appreciated:)
Happy Saturday to you too! So nice that you got to hear from your Sailor. Sure brightens up the day:) Navymom3, i sent the info on to Dune. Still haven't heard from him. I thank you so much for your kindness
Happy Saturday everyone. Hope you are all doing well and hearing from your Sailors. I heard from mine briefly yesterday. All seems to be well.
dunesmom have him contact my oldest sailor on his car issues. I will send you his info in a PM. He might be able to find him a cheaper way as he works on cars.
Heard from my Airman/Sailor... Phone took a poo on him. the battery is good but that's it. this is his third phone in less than two years, ugh. Will be sending another as i can not stand not being able to hear his voice. We also have verizon and he said he always has to go outside to call, when he could. Studying like crazy, flying like crazy and just trying to get to graduation about 6 weeks left if things go good. Car needs a new trannie and is 4500. to get. so much on his plate right now and not much i can do from way up here. I guess that's all part of this journey. Hope all is well with you and your Sailors:) Have a great day!
Thank you Tee-1sailor'smom.
I believe the naval hospital is inside the gates of the base. I have never been there myself since we live in Northern California.
Mary, I've seen you in the No Cal group (I'm in Sacramento) that's why I said hello. Is the Hospital inside the gates? I've been to the base a few times and don't remember seeing it.
Gabbyhat, the same with mine. He always had to go outside to get good reception.
Welcome eljac913.
Hi, Tee-1sailor-
My cub is a corpsman at JAX stationed at the naval hospital. My son has had problems with the US Cellular phone so he has another phone with another carrier....not sure which one.
Happy Fourth of July to all!
Mary
