While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by AH on March 11, 2010 at 2:33pm: I like the quilt idea. I can quilt but don't have the time to do it. I embroidered 1 pillowcase for a set of sheets for my best friend. She is waiting on the 2nd one, lol. I did take a picture of the one I made. It is sitting in the camera. I'll see if I can get it off and send it off.

Comment by Paymaster on March 11, 2010 at 2:25pm: I am currently working on adding patches to a quilt I am making for my son to display in their ward room on ship, I am making the quilt in the colors of the ship and adding the patches to squares in the quilt. I will send along a picture when I get it done.

Just another idea for you mom's who don't have enough to do aleady :)

Comment by AH on March 11, 2010 at 1:50pm: I haven't done it yet, but have plenty of fabric to do so.... but I'm going to make one for us. My son usually orders an extra patch for his Dad and I. It really is colorful and the black really makes the patches pop out. Most of ones that we get from Mike have the velcro hook already sewn on but you could use the adhesive kind that you can get to put them on also.

Comment by AH on March 11, 2010 at 12:40pm: I wanted to share a gift idea that I did for my son's birthday. When I visited him last fall, I noticed that he had bunch of patches on his desk. Over the years he has received (and designed a bunch of them) patches for detachments, squadrons and he even got 2 for firing a sidewinder missile. What I did was order some black velcro type of fabric by the yard (got it at Seattle Fabrics). They have all different colors but black you can order just one yard. I put it on some foam core board with adhesive and then used metal frame parts that you can buy at Michaels or Hobby Lobby (to fit what ever shape you want) to frame it. Your pilot can add to his/her collection - take off and add to their hearts desire. Nice way to frame them and not lose them during moves. Just a thought.
