I live In PSJ. Daughter graduated bc on 13 April 2012. She is in Pensacola but finishes A School June 1 and heading to San Diego.
PSJ! Know it well! I'm from Titusville! My son just PIR'd on 05/18. He's in Pensacola now for about 6 months, then reports to Jacksonville! How old is your daughter? Did you grow up in the area? I lived there my whole life till I got married, then moved to Ontario Canada. This was our 1st year as official "snowbirds"! But, I promise we weren't those annoying ones! lol!
We have lived here since 1987 when my husband was discharged from the Navy. My daughter is 19 and graduated last year from Space Coast. When you say Ontario, I grew up in Toronto until I was 12 and moved to Orlando. I am U.S. born but my brothers are Canadian. My daughter will be finishing A School on June 1. We hope she can visit before she ships west. Did your son go to the recruiters office in Titusville? If so, she probably knows him.
She classed up the second week she was in Pensacola. Her class is 6 weeks and then she will have C school in San Diego. She is an AD. Aviation Machinist Mate. She will work on helicopters when she is finished.
Are you in Florida now or up north.
Look forward to talking to you,
Luisa
Hi! Isn't that a small world that you lived in Toronto! We are about 2-1/2 hours west, right on Lake Huron - little village called Tiverton. My son is 19 also! Although he graduated from school up here. He did go to recruiters in Titusville. I asked him if he remembered a girl from DEP from PSJ and he said he did, but couldn't remember her name for the life of him. He's at Pensacola for Aircrew. He's waiting to class up. He said there are some people that have been waiting 5 months to class up. He's learning watch and getting to clean to keep him busy! lol! He's not really thrilled with that but he knows everyone has to do it! By the way - my name is Mary!
Hope to talk to you soon!
Mary
Hi, Mary! My daughter's name is Kathryn although they go by last names, so maybe he remembers Sirp. She was originally suppose to go to bc in April but got called in February. So, off she went. She is making the best of her time. Classes and study time and fun in the weekend.
Talk to you soon.
Luisa
Hi Luisa! He does remember your daughter! At first when I asked him he was saying "I can see her, but don't know her name", Then it was "Her name starts with an S, then he finally remembered! You're right tho - he had no idea what her 1st name was! haha! It really is a small world! I asked my son what he had planned for the weekend and he said "Sleep in" after having watch from 2200 to 0200 - and then he says he has to muster at 0400! He's a tired boy! haha! Talk to you soon! Mary
Hi, Mary! We have had similiar conversations where she has been tired. PT at 0400 has beat her butt. She said they go on a run down the beach and then work out and have to return to the barracks and get ready for class. Good thing they are young. What is your sons name? I asked her about him but she's not sure. Anyway I think her group of friends were headed to the beach and maybe a hotel overnight. Did your son ever go to school here or have they been raised in Canada? What made him join the Navy? Kathryn surprised us with this decision. We were looking at colleges and this came up. Very proud of her. Very brave choice. Need to watch my grandson. talk to you later.
Luisa
Hey!
My son's name is Kyle Hutt. He did all his schooling here. He's always wanted to join the Navy (that is after he wanted to be a dirt bike rider and a hockey player!)haha! My dad was a 28 year veteran of the Navy - so he always remembered my dad's stories and the pictures etc. So he originally wanted to be a aviation machinest mate, but he joined as reserves and they offered him aircrewman with a $10,000 signing bonus, so he took it! And actually he is loving it - so it was the right career decision.
Mary
Morning, Mary! Have had a busy week. We had the tail ends of the strom from last week that brought us much needed rain. Now, the air is extremely hot. Got to love Florida!! Haven't talked much to Kat this week. Today is the final day for her A School. I left her a text and hope to find out what happens next. I like to have all the pieces together to plan so this is having me a little on the edge. Hurry up and wait!! As my husband would say was the Navy's logo.
She did text me that she did a little shopping with a friend, so she's at least having fun. Doesn't seem to be bothered by the unknown, unlike mom, here.
Hope you are doing well. Got to do some moring chores before work this afternoon. Have a great Friday!!
Luisa
I bet you are super busy now! So cool that your daughter got a surprise pulled on you and your family! Best of luck to her! Kyle phased up and is happy that he can wear civvies again! And he's really happy that he doesn't have to muster at 0430 anymore! He can sleep in a whole hour to 0530! haha! Have a great time with your daughter and we'll talk more later! Mary
We are in Indian River County right below you! My son is an AD in Pensacola right now but will be sent to his next duty station in July.
Enjoying our time with Kat. She is enjoying sleeping in and hanging with friends. She is has RAP duty while home which gives her 5 free days of leave. She has been to the beach and movies, went car shopping with her dad (getting an idea of what she may buy when she gets to her duty station). We will have family over this weekend. The time is going by quickly. She leaves for Norfolk on Thursday and will report to San Diego late August. Glad to have her home. Looks like all the kids are doing well. Very proud!!
