Hi newbies. My son is a sailor as of 3/18/11. His rate is CS and he will be leaving GL for Virginia this Thursday to begin the next phase. N4Ms has been a huge help to me during this time. I hope that you all find comfort here as well. BTW I am from Grants Pass. Good luck and may the wind always be a tail wind!

My son is in BC he left on 2-22-11. He is 25 and first time away from home. He decided on his own he didnt have anything going on in his life and wanted more. He is DEP for a year before going to BC. We are very proud of him and know he will do well. His rate is MR machine repairman. Thank you for this group.

Hi, I'm Lorelei from Southern Oregon. My son is going to BC at Great Lakes on 1-19-11. I'm looking for friends, anybody out there?

Chris passed Battlestations today. One week until PIR!

Kim, Chris brought his cell phone with him and the RDCs had him call with his own phone. We did send him with the maximum amount of cash allowed - $25.

So now I'm going stir crazy, the recruiter did not have his address available, so I have to wait until next week to get one, I may even have to wait for my form letter. And most people here know just how long it takes to get mail on the Oregon coast. (grrr)

I do know he's probably on Ship 14 (USS Arizona), almost all of the recruits who arrived this week are Ship 14.

I'll savor them, if I can keep from killing Chris and his brother. They've been at it for the last two weeks. They're feeling the pressure and are letting off steam by intensifying their rivalry.

This morning Sean dumped a glass of water on Chris when Chris didn't get up to take the dog for a walk with him. Sean has been threatening this action for years, this is the first time he actually did it.

Also, their dog walks have become longer, they use the time to have a private "brother-talk."

Today we pack, tomorrow we relax, eat out and go to the movies. Tuesday we get those final few hours in the car taking him to the recruiter's office, and that's it.
