Ladies......I have a favor to ask? Would you be willing to ask your friends and co-workers to cast a vote for my Quilt Guild. I entered my guild in a contest to try and win a $7500.00 Grant. The grant would allow the Guild to expand its community service projects (providing more quilts to more groups). If you can help me here is the information:

***************************************************************************************

I registered the Guild for a Grant with Raley's. Raley's is offering 5, $7500.00 grants to community groups.

They way they determine who the winner of the 5 grants are by votes cast in the community. Anyone with a computer and internet access can vote. You can vote once each day.

If you go to www.Raleys.com and register for their website, you are eligible to vote.

Once you are registered merrily go to the top right hand side of their page, click on "Raley's Reach Voting is now open". This will bring you to the voting page.

On the voting page it has a "Search" box merrily type in the word "Quilt" and it will bring you to our slot. Push the vote button and your done!

You can vote everyday until they are done taking votes. Ask your friends and family to vote for our group. Don't be afraid to add it to your Facebook and have your friends there help us out.

If we are successful in winning this Grant it will allow to guild to expand it Community Service along with Educational programs.

Thank you,
Jody

Netta,

I too had a biospy done. I had the procedure done at St. Joe's hospital. They are a sliding fee hospital. I would look for a catholic hospital (or something like it in your area). You have to fill out some paperwork before the tests, but once they approve you you are all set. Good luck. My prayers are with you.

Thank you for the welcome. My daughter's father is 28 years in the air force. Her uncle is 20 years in the navy. She comes from a strong military hereitage. However, as a mom, my position is a little different this time. When I was thinking about using the thinsulate was when I was supposed to have her quilt done in December. But you are right it does make noise. We live in Maine. The sound of crackling thinsulate is welcome.

Good morning. I just found you guys and am thrilled. My daughter is in bc right now with a graduation date of 5/27/2010. First you all just made my life much easier. I didn't get her quilt done before she left (really it was for xmas last year). So spoke to her recruiter and he said she could take it on ship with her. We both were thrilled. But, now I know two things I didn't know-one to use all cotton, I was going to use thinsulate which has metal in between to layers of cotton for extra warmth. Second I was going to make it a queen.

So I guess, I will relay it out for something long and narrow. I will be happy to join in the group to make a square or two.

I have been told a narrow full size. Does that make sense? So something between Twin XL like college to a narrow full.

I am with the rest of you I don't want anything for my share and gosh there is not a one of us that don't have a stash!!!

Gloria....I would suggest and this is just me if you feel you need to spend money please donate it in our names to the USO, Toys for Tots or the Navy Aid society.

I'm with you Netta, I don't do this for pay, just let me know. I am already planning my daughters quilt that will travel with her. Her queen size one is at home, didn't want to take chances with it. I want to leave some blank squares so she can put her squadron patches on it too. Netta you might want to take that into consideration with the quilt layout.

Gloria, I don't speak for all the ladies but myself, I have a stash of fabrics that can always be thinned out. I have seen some of the samples that these wonderful women have created, whipping out a few blocks to add together will be quite simple. Both a "winning hand" or an "Irish chain" would be easy enough to do up quickly. Anyone else have other ideas?
