It does take about a month for that first check to get there but it will be for most of the time he's been there. Any pay the Navy owes you, they will get to you.

San Diego will soon be home for me too. Hubby will be leaving for Camp Pendleton at the end of this month.

And yes, you can bring snacks and stuff to keep your son occupied. I however didn't pack enough. My boy went through his snacks fast. I had a couple of toys for him to okay with too. The best toy was his sister, she's good at that.

The Centennial graduation was hands down the longest grad anyone would have to sit through. We had to be on base no later than 0745, the ceremony was supposed to start at the usual 0900 and it didn't start until 0940. It wrapped up around 1145, after they rededicated Naval Station Great Lakes. Now, do this longer ceremony, the whole time while staring at the back of your Sailor's head. Any graduation in the hall would seem like a shirt commercial break compared to that wait.

Thanks Ladies! I have already told my mother-in-law a million times that we MUST get there early. At that point I will be so anxious to see him that I probably won't be able to sleep the night before :) We have a 2 yr old son that I will obviously taking as well. Any advice on that? He is an excellent child, but I am a bit concerned about him sitting through the whole ceremony. Is there a lot going on? And am I allowed to bring snacks, drinks, books, small toys, etc. to keep him busy? I'm sure we'll have to sit and wait for some time before the ceremony even starts.

Another question I have is about his pay. We were told by his recruiter that his first pay would be directly deposited into our acct the 1st and 15th of each month. He arrived to BC on Sept 15th and Sat was the 1st of October. Still no money deposited. He took the bank acct information w/him and we discussed which acct the money would be deposited in. I am concerned simply because I am unaware of where it is. What should I do? Is there someone I should call?
