Mrs Hall, the Hampton Roads area is awesome, but that is just my opinion. If you aren't getting base housing, then Hampton or VA Beach would be a better choice than Norfolk because most of Norfolk is in bad areas. Before my husband left for deployment we had an apartment n Downton hampton and I absolutely loved it. It's wasn't far from anything and it was pretty cheap for there... We found it on rent.com and after they proved that we moved in an apartment we found from them they sent us a 100 dollar visa gift card... I hope this helps.

Thank you Gnome.  I do need to join some groups and I am just not sure what is available here yet.  I need to do a little more research and make more of an effort. Thank you for your thoughts and support.  It's helpful just to know someone understands.  Right now I'm struggling a bit because I don't think my husband really understands "my side of the story" all that well and although he means well and he is wonderful I am feeling a little bit lost as to how to explain things to him without making it seem like I'm complaining or placing blame.  I don't want him to feel that way because that isn't how I feel.
