Hey D'Arcyis!!  My husband has PIR April 15th as well, and we are also older than most new recruits!! We don't have any children though.  Just us 2!  I'm super excited for this new adventure, and ready to travel!  Good to meet you, and what div is your hubby in? Mine is 132...we are so close!  Can't wait to see him!

Hi ladies, I just wanted to introduce myself. My husband has PIR april 15th. We are much older than most new recruites so its scary to join at this point in our lives. I am nervous and excited about things to come. We have two children. He is going on toconnecticut for basic sub school immedialty after PIR. Its only the begining. just hoping to find some support and connections here. :)

has anyone read "chicken soup for the military wives soul"?  I ordered it from the local library, and I can't wait to read it!

KiWi, a couple months before my husband went to boot camp, I bought several books on Amazon.com about military life, being a military wife, finances while in the military, etc. They really relaxed my mind. Maybe you should see if your local library has some of these types of books or go to Amazon.com. I'm very lucky in that my stepson hasn't shown any signs of being effected by his Daddy being gone so long. He's very much a Daddy's boy. My MIL made a picture book from Snapfish.com with pics of my stepson with Daddy, pics of just Daddy, and pics from our wedding. My husband's ex gf said their son keeps the book in his toybox and looks at it a lot.

Ladies, has anyone noticed that their FSH increases/decreases each month? Ours decreased in Feb. and increased by a couple hundred dollars this month. Also, his Meal Deduction increased thereby increasing his BAS. Any idea why? I'm not sure if there are any wives/gfs here who's Sailor has been in for a while.

@ Tricia: My Sister in Law will be moving into base housing on Bremerton.  She will be in Jackson Park.  But I was asking her which areas are nice to live in off base (because we might be getting stationed there after A School) and she said that Silverdale is a good area.  Hope that helps! If you have any other questions feel free to email me slabaugh7910@gmail.com and I will ask her!
