Hi JenniferV, how much longer until you're in our great state of NH??? Are you getting prepared? Sorry I've been absent from here for while, went through PIR on 8/6/10. What an experience, so glad we were able to attend. Hope you move is smooth and you get settled in quickly. Portsmouth is a fun little city, lots happening there. Hope to hear from you soon.

Jennifer when you get to NH in 2 months , the seasons will be changing and of all four Fall is my favorite, still pretty warm during the day with a nice cool evening. However, then I always have to be reminded that winter is just around the corner. I'm sure you will enjoy your stay while you are here.

Welcome!! You'll be arriving in the state at a beautiful time of the year! Leaf peeper season! Be prepared for the cold weather in the winter and you'll do fine. There are plenty of companies around here that sell great gear, the biggest being LL Bean. It would be nice to have a car starter installed if you don't already have one. The reason, if your car is parked outside in the winter, it's nice to be able to start it from your nice warm home and give it a few minutes to warm up before you have to get into it. When you park it at the end of the day, make sure you have your heat set as high as it will go. If you want to friend request me feel free. I'm a Mom of a recruit currently in BC. He'll be graduating 2 weeks from today. Is your husband going to be stationed at Portsmouth? Don't give up finding women in the same situation as you, I'm sure there are plenty out there.

Hi there NH Moms. Has anyone sent phone cards to their sons/daughters while in boot camp? We forgot to give one to our son before he left & I was wondering what the best one was around here? We've never used one before. Hope you're all doing well!

I am starting to look into hotels, do you mind telling me where you stayed when you were out there?

kellyb, my son has been in since June 7th!! I know just how you are feeling, trust me. It will get easier. First comes the kid in a box (his clothes that he wore to BC) then the official letter from the Navy with his graduation date (PIR), and a brief note from your son, This form will also have hotel information for you. Then you can look forward to a letter from your son, if he's a writer, some are not and hopefully a phone call. I've heard that phone calls are earned by their division. Some moms never received one.

Hi keke's mom, I have joined the boot camp group & as soon as I get Kevin's ship & div #'s I will join that group too! This website has become my therapy also & I read alot of the comments to my husband then he feels better to know all the important stuff too! I feel like I have this permanent lump in my throat since he left & every now & then the tears just start. How long has your son been in the Navy now?
Comment by keke's mom (Ship12, Div 262) on July 10, 2010 at 1:46pm
kellyb, we are neighbors! Have you joined the boot camp group? Lots of support there as well. Also when you have his graduation date (PIR) someone will start a group with the date, I strongly suggest you join that group as well. I think I cried every day for the first 2 weeks after he left. It's much better now though, just post your concerns/feelings on any of these groups pages and you will get a lot of encouragement. It's nice to know we're not crazy about the way we are handling our kids leaving. This web site has been my therapy :-) Thanks for saying "HI".

Ladies, thank you for the welcome, I was glad to find this group of woman close to home for me.
