@Mommaof4 , Done i am cooking today so excited for my baby . I booked the Ramada, yes most had shuttle to graduation , looks like we may need a car to get to hotel from airport.
Aunt Cookie, I booked our rooms at the Courtyard Marriott. Most of the hotels around there have a free shuttle from the hotel to the PIR and back. Look on the pamphlet that was included with your form letter. The list of hotels on the back show which ones have a shuttle. We did rent a car but we will be using the free shuttle to the PIR.
@Mommaof4 I booked flight usaireays yesterday to ohare, now i am looking for rooms, have you done that yet? Dont know if we get a car so we want the shuttle to base to be included.
Beans, we are trying to see who is interested in meeting in October. I live in Blenheim! Let us know if you are interested.
Aunt Cookie, it all depends on which airline you are using. They are all pretty much the same unless you want to make them non refundable. Then they pretty much double in price. Southwest is probably the cheapest but they only fly to Midway. Not a big deal but a little longer drive. We are flying from Phila to O'Hare on US Airways.
Hi, I am from Blackwood, near Blenheim, Deptford and Cherry Hill! My son just graduated BC on 8/3/12! Yay! In Charleston, SC for Nuke school! I booked our flights the Monday before graduation, out of Philly, flight at 7:40 AM on Delta $130 one way. My Dad had booked a round trip the week before with Southwest for about the same. My fiance booked Wednesday night for Thursday 8PM flight with US Air and it was $300. We then rented a car and drove home since we weren't sure when my son would be flying out on Saturday, some guys fly out Friday! One way ca rental is about double, but it worked for us! We stayed at the Comfort Inn in Waukegan, we liked it. About $90 a night including taxes. Not the newest Comfort Inn we've stayed at, but still has a good continental breakfast with waffle maker! Staff and manager, Ken, extremely helpful and courteous! Senior development right next door to hotel helps to keep out the riff raff. Reserved rooms 2-3 weeks in advance, had until two days before graduation to cancel or change reserbations. Which was great b/c you don't know what will happen with Battlestations! Wow! Sorry so long!
Yes - I am stuffing my purse full of tissues.. I work in Cranford.. Not too far from Morristown.
My son can't wait to eat... said first thing he wants to do when on leave is eat. LOL
I am very glad to hear your son's home..:)
I am from North-West NJ, near Morristown.
Bring your tissues !! Boot camp graduation is just so emotional on so many levels. But, do be prepared... the graduates are EXHAUSTED. My son fell asleep standing up waiting in line to go to dinner. truly exhausted.
My son is now PO 1 and stationed in San Diego base. On a destroyer. Just returned in late May from 18 mo in Afghanistan. Home safe. amen..
Hi Deirdre,
We are actually driving over from the Jersey Shore. We decided to make the 13/15 hour drive to Chicago and make it an adventure. My husband is hoping I get all the crying out of way by then. We will be there a week. Stopping at the Marriott downtown for a day then off to the Courtyard midweek.
It would be great to meet.. 16 days and counting.
Adis
