I don't know much about housing either, but here are a few websites that you could look at for the schools and start from there. Good luck!

Navy 25,
I'm from the Viet Nam era, and I don't remember hearing of the female sailor. No one even mentioned the ladies in WWII who ehlped move the planes about. One friend I knew of went AirForce for a desk job. The thought of sitting taking dictation all day in an office didn't sound good. Now, they actively recruit the ladies. They show them cool activities and wonderful places. Whole New World. Yes, I would consider it if I was a young person now.
Glad your son has the schooling done, now for the good parts. Not that schooling isn't interesting, but it is still same walls every day.
From Great Lakes he is headed ....? Any orders yet?
Mary
Hi Lovethatkid, Wow your Sailor really has done alot of traveling it sounds, Im sure you cant wait for him to come home and he has been able to see first hand all that history. I was telling my fiancee that if I would have been 18 now I definet would have joined the Navy ( i would have to learn how to swim real good first LOL )One Im very Patriotic so I would have liked to serve and 2 the traveling and all that history. I know what you mean they all look alike quite a few years ago I saw the JFK Aircraft carrier come back to Norfolk,Virginia from a 6 month deployment and it was an amazing experience, at that time I was able to tour the ship its a world all of its own,Fantastic
My son really loves his rate ET just graduated A School at Great Lakes
Navy 25,
How wonderful that your son's Grandmother was there to enjoy such a special time. Those 3 days go very fast. I remember going there with my husband and my son's younger brother to see him in PIR. I couldn't recognize him in the event, even though he had given a note ahead of time as to where to look. It is like when they man the rails and head into port. You only see a little face from a sea of folks wearing the same outfits. But it was the beginning of an interesting series of events over the years. My son is on his 5th trip overseas, currently on the Bush. You never stop missing them and they also still count the weeks until "mid-way" then "three-qtrs" then "relief in sight-just switched with our replacement" and finally "headed home". Those seem to be the milestones. Ports along the way are the little bonus. He loves ancient history so he has sought out some very interesting places over the years. But a day or so limits the time one can spend foraging history, food of the area, postcards to send and a little shop to get the extras he runs low on {deoderant-new socks-type items}. Your son has much to look forward to. Hopefully he is in a good comand and a rating he enjoys, that makes all the difference in the world.
Hope your recovery is making good progress and you are keeping your spirits high.
Mary
Maria,
So glad to hear that things went well. Sorry you had to miss your sons graduation, but getting through the operation and getting the good news is putting you in position to be there and enjoy so much more of the celebrations you and your son will have from here on.
Mary
