My son left 8/12. PIR 10/8. IS THERE ANYONE ELSE FROM JERSEY WHO LEFT THAT DAY?

Prayers for the families. Someone I work with has a son in that unit. My co-worker heard from her son yesterday and he told them about the incident. She met with me today to give me my first Service Lapel Pin. These are the times that bond us together.

Hi, My name is Nan and I am new to all of this. My son Sam just joined, much to my surprise, and isn't scheduled to go to Great Lakes until June 2011. Many of my immediate questions have been answeted since I found NavyForMoms but I was happy to find other families from New Jersey. We have always lived in Hunterdon County but are planning on moving to Warren County next year. I am not much for talking online but am looking forward to learning from your experiences.

I was just about sobbing!!!! Is it like that every time, they come and go? A service man posted, "I'im in the service too and actually only one of my homecomings were surprising after that they got used to not having me around and for us that is the part when we start missing them more." My heart is just broken for him. I don't want to get all emotional in front of my son because I want it to be easier for him to leave when he has to. I can't imagine getting used to his absence. Any thoughts on this?

Thank You Lynda, Judy & Monica, I appreciate your kind words. I have been bombarding him with mail along with prayer. Hoping something I say encourages him to want to stay and fight through this tough time that he's going through. I'm all ears if anyones got any suggestions.

Hi NJ Moms, My son has had a setback, he has a stress fracture in his heel. He is now in RCU, ship 6, and hating every minute of it. He wants to come home. He says there are guys there who have been there for 4 mos. with the same injuries as his. So needless to say he is a little discouraged right now. I have been writing him non stop trying to encourage him. I am praying he finds the strength to get thru this. Please keep my son in your thoughts and prayers that he heals quickly and finds the strength he needs to get through this tuff time, so he can move into a new div. and continue his bootcamp training! Thanks!
