Hi Laura Lee, I can't help either, because I flew in June 2007 for Joshua's PIR. It's an amazing weekend...one I'll never forget! It's a shame he's not graduating a few weeks later. I'll be in Great Lakes for a PIR on July 23rd as a guest of CMC Dodd. And I echo Judy, post photos when you get back!

Monica, The best and most direct route would be rt 80 all the way into Chicago then it's only about half an hour drive to Great Lakes. Have fun.

Monica, we drove to Great Lakes due to finances and it was very grueling. However, once PIR was over we all said that it was worth the drive. If I had the chance to fly, I would.
Alison, I will have to miss the luncheon on May 15th as my son will be graduating Nuclear Power School in SC on the 14th and we will be there for the weekend. This is the second time I'm not able to meet you ladies. :(

Hi everyone, I am happy to say my son Rob is back on track and working with his recruiter. He is awaiting medical clearance from a past shoulder surgery and then he will go for his physical. He is making what I am sure will be the best decision of his life. I am so happy and proud that he wants to be in the Navy.

Hi everyone. My name is Andrea, and my son is in Great Lakes now. His PIR date is 4/9. So if all goes according to our plan, we will fly out on Thursday. We live in Central Jersey. I also have a daughter who lives in Oregon, I am very proud of both my kids' desire to serve their country ( my daughter was in the CG for 2 years), and we DO want our kids to have their own lives, (right?). Anyway, my son is going to be a nuke, but I think that means being a machinist mate first....I'm not exactly sure of the course this takes, but I am trying to be flexible. I think he may stay in GL for A school, then go to Goose Creek, but I'm not sure.
It's nice to "meet" you, and thank you and your children's service.
