Francne...the attorney will ask for a continuation until he feels that there is a Judge he likes.  In NC they are allowed 3 continuations.  Has your Son told his Chain of Command about his ticket?  He really should because the Navy does like for them to have a higher ranking person with them when they go to Court.  My Son is an MA and his Rank is E3 so an MA1 went with him to Court.  Both his tickets have been in VA and neither time did he hire an attorney but they were speeding tickets not wreckless driving.

Oh, please don't judge all the Norfolk winters by the time you were there.  You were there during an unusual time.  There are days when it's cold but it's not like that the entire winter.  It is nothing like Great Lakes!!! It's usually just a few days a time with temps that cold and then it goes back up in the 40's or so.   Sorry you were there and experienced Norfolk winters at their worst!

Hi Theresa, I can imagine how bad it must have been for them to actually post signs I think its a great idea of the signs and for it to be enforced and especially the Tshirts some are ridiculous and sometimes you are sitting in a restaurant or at a movie lobby and the language from some people especially if they are chatting on cell phones its out of hand.

Marine NavyMom LOL Im sure with my luck I would bump to the only Spanish speaking Police Officer

Francine I wish your son the best of luck at the court when he has to go.

Theresa sorry to bother you but is there any way of finding out if there is a specific group for the ship Mahan or who to contact regarding how to send care packages or letters to our Sailors once they are stationed on the ship or would that info be given to my son once he is settled at his ship. This new phase is all new to me, my son was at Great Lakes and we had numerous groups and Navy Staff that were very helpful to Us NavyMoms at GL.Thanking you in advance for any info.

Will be headed to Norfolk from California for homecoming.  We want to take our daughter (and hopefully our Navy son) to DC for two days when we are back there.  Any suggestions on hotels in DC?  Also, we will drive back to fly out from Norfolk--suggestions on towns between DC and Norfolk where we can spend the night?

Francine--it sounds freezing in winter!

Hope all goes well with your sons ticket Francine. VA is serious about their tickets.

My husband got a ticket in norfolk because he hit a patch of gravel and his motorcycle slipped out from under him. He didn't hit anyone or anything and the wreck consisted of only him and the bike and he still got a ticket for reckless driving. We paid almost 200 in fees and they were watching him for a yr. If he had gotten another ticket in that yr they would have took his license.
