My son goes to MEPS Monday for his physical (Char.). Can anyone tell me for sure if he will also see the classifier that day. So far everything has kind of been spread out. Thanks so much, Tammy

ya football was his life in HS. Overall he has always been a good kid. We have had a few problems but got through them. I know we can get through this too. Thanks

Brandonsmom~my son doesn't leave until January. I also have the same feelings as you. I am just trying to appriciate the time that I have with him until he leaves. I was very excited that he wanted to go to community college instead of a university right outta high school because he would be home with us longer. Now I feel like his life is on hold until he leaves for BC. He is 20 and our only child so I understand what you said about ready in a good way. I noticed the football uniform. My son also played football in HS.

My son does not go to boot camp untill March 2011 as a CS!! Does anyone else have to wait that long?? He has gotten a full time job so that may help the time go faster. I am so ready for him to get his Navy career started. I love him and am so proud that he made this decision. He is ready to go and I am ready for him to go...in a good way. Ya know what I mean. He really needs this! He is 18 and has the "I am an adult and I should be able to do what I want when I want" attitude. I know this will change when he gets to Boot Camp.....

Hey Lynne, and welcome to the group. I'm not far from you at all. I'm a Stokes County Navy Mom. My son will soon be in for two years. He went through C school and is now stationed in San Diego.

Lynne,
Frocking is when your command allows the sailor to put on their new rank as soon as you've learned you passed and are eligible for advancement. When hubby and I served you did not put on your rank until you got the pay. Now they allow you to put on the rank but you are not "officially" that rank until all is finalized and you are getting paid. My son got to "put on" his IS2 back in March but still hasn't received his higher pay yet!!! Any ceremony is up to the individual command. Some will do a little something to acknowledge the advancement others just tell them to "correct" their uniform!!!!
Hope this helps!!!

To Carolina Tarheel: we are just down the road in GSO. I have a daughter who will graduateA- school and C- school July 20th. She is in the Great Lakes now but just received her 1st assignment.. She has just been stationed to Portsmouth, Va. We feel very lucky to be within driving distance for a weekend . at the wonderful Va. beach which is only 20 min away from base. We all have great kids. Happy Fathers' day to all you dads' and single moms!!!!!
