Most of us have been posting discussions segregated by ship and division, but maybe we can get to know each other based on our PIR date--we will all be in Great Lakes on the same weekend.

Merry Christmas everyone! I have not been able to keep in touch for the past week so I feel a little out of the loop but I did want to touch base and say Merry Christmas! I know it will be a hard one but we all need to stay upbeat and positive and focus on the goal "Our US Sailor"

Dear November Boot Camp Family,
A number of you have either Kayleigh Hall and/or Gloria Lopez on your friend list. Please remove them ASAP. They are bogus profiles. Go to “My Page”, scroll down to “My Friends”, click on their profiles and click “My Friends” and click “Remove as Friend.” Starting last week, we went on a campaign to warn new members of this issue and notified many members who joined from late November to last week. Unfortunately, we did not detect this until last week and many new members had accepted their friend request. In fact, they had amassed around 500 friends each in a period of 30 days (with some overlapping). We want to thank those of you who have deleted the profiles of these two offending members. A spot check of a number of profiles under Members revealed many of the new members from this period joined November Boot Camp, December Boot Camp, Navy Girlfriend, Leaving for Boot Camp January 6, 2010, Navy Mom in MA Ship-09, Boot Camp Girlfriends. It is almost impossible for us to contact the 750 to 800 Friend profiles associated with Kayleigh and Gloria. We are just moms supporting our sons/daughters in the military with family and work obligations. We need your help and cooperation in keeping this site free of spam, advertisers and self-promoters. Please check your Friend List. Thank you.
Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and Peace, Bea

P.S. Claraluz and Nowirehangers are just two with K & G as friends.

APR mom, when does your recruit go to A school? In A school, they can receive anything that they can room to receive. I have a son in A school now, and I have mailed him several boxes of his things. Mainly his laptop, cell phone and civilian clothes. A school is like a dorm. two to a room, but still open showers.
Also, how long will your recruit be in A school and where? Each A school is different. Mine now is in corpsman A school, which is 14 weeks. They closed for the holidays, so he is home now until Jan. 2.
The good thing about A school: You can talk to them every day! My son gets out of class around four, so I try to call every evening.
One more thing about A school, if they are at GL, they will have a different mailing address. They will have one while they are on hold, and another one once they "class-up".

Dawn, that was a perfect gift!
Well, I think someone in the other room thinks I've been on way too long. (I never can figure out men! )
Good Night ladies, I know we will meet again tomorrow!

Carolyn, I understand what you mean! That happened to me! I missed my first son's first call. Some of the phones don't work! He could hear me, but I couldn't hear him. I was SOOOO sad, I cried. I found out that he was upset also, so, your recruit sounding upset could be that he only got a short call, and the fact he didn't get promoted to E-2!!!
Go write him a nice long letter with lots of encouraging words and make the cake! Checking the whiskey will help lift your sprits!
Richard also said that he wassn't sure about calling home on Christmas. It's all up to the RDCs!
Well, Ladies, I'm off to try and make the cake that is listed here! lol

Carolyn, I just read your post about Battle Stations. My son called tonight. He is in division 049. He said that Battle Stations was scheduled for 1-6-10. Since they go two a night and ours are the last two divisions, I would guess your's will also be on that Wed. night.
My other son did his on that same night, and I was already in GL when I got the "I'm a Sailor" call.

Casey, Dan's Mom(dad) is right. What is your recruits rate? (job) I have a son in corpsman A school now who is in GL now. His brother in BC, will also go to A school in GL, but as a CS (Culinary Specialst) Also each A school is differnt in length. Corpsman is 14 weeks, and CS is 4-6 weeks. After A school they will either go to C school, additional training or get there first orders. My son in A school now will leave at the end of Feb and go to N.C for FMTB. (Field Medical Traning Battalion), yet my son in boot camp, once he finishes A school, he will get his first orders.
I know this is long, but I hope it helps. Navy life gets confusing!

Hi Folks we finally recieved a phone call!!! It has been a long dry spell, no calls no letters since Thanksgiving. And that one was wisdome teeth being yanked. Proud to say DIV 13 SHIP 56 has got it together. They are working as a team YEAAAA!!! He said a lot of there problems have been do to illness and injuries, Marsh had to have more work done after the wisdomes because of infection, I wish I would have known before BC. It would have been alot easer to have it done here and rest at home. Dawn thank you for all you do, Greenlo we miss you, please keep us informed. Everybody we are getting closer..
