Most of us have been posting discussions segregated by ship and division, but maybe we can get to know each other based on our PIR date--we will all be in Great Lakes on the same weekend.

And you are right when you said "they were trying to protect themselves of saying goodbye and the sadness they felt inside but don't talk or try to let us know how they really feel.
When I left my son at the airport, this last time,he asked me "mami, how do you fell?";I just made a nice and real "show" for him, that I was so happy for him...that he was doing what he always wanted and I was happy for that...
He don't know how sad and lonely I had felt;I even went to the doctor, and I still MISS HIM so much,he is my youngest and last son!!
Have a good day! that's life! God bless us and help us!

Even though my son tried to be close to me,there were always friends calling on the phone, inviting him to the movies, the mall...I think that since the moment he step out to boot camp,he started a new life, become another person, independent (more). After all that's good for him, because when I'm gone...he'll be good...Terri don't worry,I know how you feel and what you mean, but I'm trying to learn with all of this experiences....that's life...they were lent to us,to help them grow and teach them the values they have today. After all I'm happy because my son is where he always wanted to be...
Love and nice day to all!!

Terri and Katieliz - I understand what you are saying. My son who is also my oldest was home for a week and a half after A school and he was pretty much the same way. He was on the computer and with his friends. Sometimes even staying the night at his friends because they were out so late. I was so upset and felt like it was disrespectful to the rest of the family. All of the worrying and writing that we have done for him and he can't spend more time with us? I know he would rather spend time with his friends then with mom and dad but still, it hurt.
