Most of us have been posting discussions segregated by ship and division, but maybe we can get to know each other based on our PIR date--we will all be in Great Lakes on the same weekend.

I need some advice and I think this is the place to come. I am having surgery next Friday. My doctor said that I could not work or travel for 6 weeks - bet me I have a PIR to go to on Jan. 15! My question is should I tell my son who is in boot camp about the surgery? I feel that he would handle it ok but I just don't want anything to distract him. Before he left I spoke to him about his grandfather who is not doing well and asked him what he thought about me getting the news to him if he passed away. He said that he would want to know. But that is a little different because his grandpa has not been well for over a year and we have all been preparing ourselves the best we can for the worst. I just don't want to throw Mike off of his "game".

It is a tought moment, not just for you as family, but for your son,he had a heavy load been in a place that he did'nt want to be and is very dificult for a person in that situation, knowing you must be there everyday doing a job you dont like and don't want to do,knowing you will not do your best....And if it is for the people (that always talk either you do good or not) please remember that happens everywhere, your son did'nt do nothing wrong,he just told them the truth, that's what they want...
At the end your family and you will be like me too, be at his side because we are MOTHER ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
