Hi all - Happy Wednesday!

workingatit - that is a great post - thanks for sharing!  And I'm glad you had a nice visit with him.  Makes the momma heart happy <3

MekaG17 - yes, be prepared now for the hurry up & wait.  My son also was in DEP for 9 months.  The important thing is that your son gets himself mentally and physically prepared for BC.  They have changed the requirements so it's important that he is ready!

beachlover and Nursemom - glad your sons are enjoying GC.  Maybe they even know each other?  And just remember, there will be good days and bad - ups & downs.  Some days they may question what they got themselves in to lol, but just keep encouraging them and reminding them they can do it!  And at the end of the day, no matter what happens, it isn't the end of the world.

Hey beachlover0214. My son arrived same day as yours (div 264). Basically said the same thing as you. Texted me yesterday and said he survived his first class, but I dont know if that’s an “official” class or not? I think he’s doing watches and said he has 6 hours of paperwork to do before Thursday and phone use is limited for calls and texts. That’s all I know except the food is good and they had fun at the movies on Sunday!

workingatit, what a great post! We always worry about our kids and their choices. Sounds like yours is doing just fine. I need to get my sailor to church, too. Anyway, what a shot in the arm to hear good things from people who have no reason to say something unless it's just true. Good job, Mama.

MekaG17, are you hoping for nuke, or have experience with nuke? It's a tough row to hoe but can be a great choice too. Keep us posted. One thing I will say as far as timing, nuke classes fill slower than most other rates so don't be surprised, if your son qualifies as nuke, to get a date for boot camp WAY out there. My son's date was 9 months out. However, there's a pretty good chance he will get a call that says a spot has opened up and he can leave in, say, 2 wks. He doesn't have to do that, and it won't hurt him either way. My son opted not to do that since he had made plans up to the date and didn't want that changed. Others chomp at the bit to get started. Have him be ready with an answer.

Any other timeline answers can be found in the discussions to the right. It gives length of time for each stage of the pipeline. Good luck!

Thanks for the warm welcome! My son is a recruitee who just took his ASVAB yesterday. I think now we are awaiting approval for the nuclear program. I really don't know the timing or protocol for all of this.

We had a great visit with my sailor! He is almost halfway through power school and doing pretty well! So good to see him and he is the same funny querky kid! He took us to one of his hangouts owned by a retired military and met the said vet. felt relief to see that he is making good choices and getting some good conversation and influence from older adults. Got some good compliments of our sailor from the gentleman too! proud Navy mom moment! Now to get him to church....

Hi all - Happy Tuesday!

NancyJo - I'm so glad their household goods finally arrived!  Poor little Simon - I'm sure he'll be happy now that he has his own bed ;-D

Comment by NancyJo (NNPTC) on June 26, 2018 at 9:27am

Buzzbeck, we in Omaha are excited for the College World Series championship to begin. There have only been 3 times in history where a team lost their first game and went on to win the series. Talking heads think the rain delay is to the Beavers's benefit. Hope so. We're rooting for you!

My sailor's household goods finally arrived last week so they can say they are settling in. Poor little Simon kept saying he wanted to go home. I think he wanted to sleep in his own bed, poor thing. Now he can.

proudNukemom, love the shirt! Perfect that it's red. :^D
