Hi all - Happy Monday!

Chipmunk - I hope you had a wonderful birthday!  How was the graduation on Saturday?

NNLori - A school grad will be here before you know it.  I'm sure the next couple of weeks will fly by :o

Sgtsixpack - by son did proto at BS also.  The area is beautiful up there - we were fortunate enough to visit twice and enjoyed it thoroughly!

JayDee - I was talking to B yesterday - he's trying to get packed up for the move to MI and he's holding off now on the date of the move since his roommates will be out with the Bush.  He wants to make sure he can spend some time with them before he leaves.....he's really going to miss them!

Sisters and brothers, how exciting to personally experience why the US Navy is THE premier naval force in the world.  Brains, Brawn and a lot of love ❤️

I'm getting excited!! A school graduation is 2 weeks from Friday!!! I thought it would never get here and now it's right around the corner. Of course when I listen to all the testing my son has to go through before that can happen it makes me tired!! Oh my goodness!! I pray all goes well and we will take it one day at a time. I'm thinking of all those taking Comps today. Best of luck to you all!!

I love hearing the stories of graduations from every step!! My plan is to make it to them all, I hope it works out.

Happy Monday everyone!! Have a great week!!

Buzzbeck & KamMom, I realized on Saturday that it was the one year anniversary of Prototype graduation!  A year ago today I was sitting on Folly Beach with both my daughters.  Where does the time go.  I for one am amazed at how much my Nuke has accomplished in that short year, a deployment (Tiger Cruise for me), numerous underways and inspections and a re-enlistment.  Now all those things that were new are just part of the routine.

For all you moms who are at the beginning of your journey, realize that your Nuke will be through the pipeline in a blink of an eye and out to sea before you know it.  Enjoy your moments while they're in school and you can reach out and touch them.  Mine called me Saturday and chatted for two wonderful hours while she cleaned her house and prepared for her next journey.  I'll have that conversation to think back on while she goes quiet for awhile.

Happy Monday to all.

Buzzbeck - I agree with you that the Power School graduation is the most wonderful. I thought it was better than PIR. I felt it seemed grand and wonderful and small and personal all at the same time.

B'sNukeMom - to answer your question see SgtSixPacks comment - unfortunately he wasn't able to be in the graduation.

Comment by Buzzbeck on May 5, 2018 at 3:16am

Sgtsixpack: Well said. So so proud of our nuke sailors, sacrificing so much to get through the pipeline.

Kai cat: Our sailor's A School ceremony changed dates at the last minute due to needs of the Navy. I went to SC anyway, saw him over Thanksgiving, but missed the ceremony. So, as JayDee said, go as often as you can, because you may miss the next one.  Power School was definitely the most awesome ceremony. Once announced, the date never changed, and my parents, sister and Mr. Buzzbeck were all able to attend. Unless a hurricane hits.

Oh, and whether you son thinks he wants you there, mine really appreciated us coming out and seeing him.

Thank you proupNukemom and B'sNukeMom for the birthday wishes. It has been a long day for me at an annual weekend convention that I only was able to attend today, because tomorrow is daughter # 3 graduation from college, so another busy day. I have been trying to catch up on all the N4M news and my birthday emails.

I know I will forget something, so I will just respond to KaiCat - my son's recent A school graduates only had a 3 day liberty, since they had extra time off at Christmas. And his Friday, was considered a work day. So, graduation started at 9 Am (I think - too tired to dbl ck) and was done with ceremony / pictures around 10:15 AM. We drove over to the mini Nex when he could walk over and meet us. He wanted to change out of his dress whites. They didn't have anything that had to be gone back and cleaned up in their classroom, and he didn't have to be in NWU's, but he had to be within a certain radius, since he was officially still "on duty", or "on call" (forgive me for not knowing technical terms), and available for us to return to NNPTC if need be. We ended going to Ft. Moultrie and spent the afternoon there after eating sandwiches for lunch in our motel room.

He was able to be with us from then until Monday- our hotel check out was 11 AM Monday, and we went bowling afterwards, ate another sandwich lunch in the car and then walked him back to his check point near the backside of his BEQ. So, we had time to do things with him on the weekend, because they had liberty and 75 mile radius liberty without a chit.

To kaicat.  Absolutely visit or attend as much as you can.  We are 80 in Fl. We could not attend this PowerSchool and found out Thursday, the 3rd, gs had something to complete but he was still scheduled fo continue at BS. (Believe they start 5/15). Still don’t know if he was allowed to be in program today.  So God is good.  They say Rickover was “against the tide” and look what he accomplished.  I’ve seen the pictures of these Nukes at attention in the Whites, and you know they all are our future, and present, heroes regardless of their names.  All volunteers whose values have been instilled by great upbringing and are being honed and polished by “ The needs of the Navy”

God Bless them all!
