Hi all - Happy Wednesday!

NancyJo - glad you'll get to see everyone on their way to GC!  I'm sure you are looking forward to many hugs.  Awwww that breaks my heart to think of your granddaughter crying as she leaves her friends.  Hopefully they will stay in touch - should work out especially with technology these days.  I'm glad you'll be able to have the family together for the funeral - how is your daughter doing?

CoTwin - I'll bet it's beautiful right now in Alaska.  I just can't imagine the winters though :o

kaicat - I remember that day a week or so ago when you had all the ice - B's GF sent a picture of it - she & her roommate were out scraping the car windows (and ended up cracking the window!).

COTwin, time has flown! Sounds like AK son is finding some peace up there. Hope so. It's nice to hear them making plans for a future. Hang in there with the deployed sailor. It's hard.

I Facetimed with my son and family last night. This morning they are having the walk-through to release their place in San Diego (base housing) and will take off for Nebraska on their way to his new duty in GC. They have the time and want to make it easier on the kids so will do the trip in 3 days. We will have his dad's funeral next week after they arrive. His 5-yr-old daughter was crying her eyes out because she said goodbye to friends that she won't see again. Part of military life. Poor baby.

The volcano in Hawaii has me worried. I heard on the news this morning they have identified 14 vents that have opened up. Yikes! This is bad. Prayers for those poor people.

Jay Dee, You triggered memories for me also. Mine finished the pipeline 2015. He is on his second deployment. Come 2019He will be leaving the Navy. His twin has been out two years already. Time seems to have gone, I don't know where. One lives in Alaska and have adventures of a lifetime. He says he still wants to go to College, but not sure yet what to pursue. The Nuke seems to change his mind every month. He makes me laugh. This deployment is difficult. I have heard nothing from him so far. Not like last one.

I am forever grateful that they made the choice to enlist. They learned invaluable life lessons from it. Somethings they really needed to learn, not from home. They learned responsibility and respect for others.

When I went for Power School graduation, I rented a MIL little house 9 min from base. It had its own yard with a BBQ and we had a dinner for others who's families did not come. It was nice. I listed it  in the discussions above.

Earthquakes are super scary to me!  Nature is such a powerful thing.

On a totally separate note - I live in Michigan and it is cold - then it is hot.  One day recently we had to scrape ice off the car in the morning and it was 58 degrees and sunny the same afternoon and my son and I needed the air conditioner on the way home!  My husband was like "It's 58 - you don't need the AC" - but my son and I were boiling in the hot sun! LOL

Forgot to mention - got woken up by a 4.5 earthquake this morning!  Nothing like a little shaking to get you going in the morning lol :o  From the news stories there was no damage or injuries thank goodness. Nothing like what's happening in Hawaii with their big quake the other day and the lava flow from the Kilauea Volcano that has destroyed 26 homes :(

And ProudParent the most important thing of all congratulations and enjoy the A School graduation

Comment by ProudOfK on May 8, 2018 at 11:41am

And yes you're right they're not necessarily in class with the same people they were in class in a school with some might be the same and some might be different

Comment by ProudOfK on May 8, 2018 at 11:36am

ProudParent - pretty sure your sons A school grad will be at 9am as there was a Power School grad just last Friday and that only happens every 2 months.

To answer your question about how Power School classes are structured - there are all 3 rates in the same "class" and the whole "class" is on the same schedule for the most part. But the "class" is divided into sections. Each section is a single rate. So they are only in the classroom with their own rate.
