For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Comment by WearsLargeHats on January 27, 2016 at 9:32pm: MM and EM can go conventional, or can re-rate to something else. ETs pretty much have to go back to square 1. Ouch! There is an advising/detailing process in DTP. (For sailors in NY prototype, DTP is in Groton. That might be better than in GC.)

I won't say sorry for your sailor's re-rate because it will be a success. Difficult to see right now, but the disappointment will turn into excitement pretty soon. And he will be just fine. I wish your sailor the best! :)

I wish you and your Sailor the best during this transition time. I have told my Sailor that bottom line is that I want him to be happy. If that means a different career choice, I'm fine by it.
So I do hope your Sailor finds his new normal to also be a happier place for him.

I'm hoping that this move will be positive for him. He's been very discouraged, but has wonderful support where he's at and at home. I'm hoping that his re-rating will be a better fit also.

You could really add value through you and your son's experience on taking a different path. And I'm so sorry that it didn't work out. The Nuke path isn't easy. My son made it but he's far away, tired, homesick, and pretty miserable. And he still has almost 3 years to complete before he'll come back to the States. I'll hate the next 3 years. But this isn't about me. Fair winds and following seas. You will be missed.
