Newbie17, it sounds like my sailor was one year ahead of yours. He graduated power school 9/26/14, reported to BS for thanksgiving, most of his group classed up 12/5, but he was on hold until he finally classed up on 2/8. His grad date kept moving from July to August to June to September... He graduated last year on 10/02. A lot of it has to do with the plants' operating availability.

Newbie17, my Sailor graduated PS 3/20/15 and was on Grad Hold in GC for awhile before heading up to BS. He started Prototype 5/26. His Prototype graduation date moved several times due to shutdowns but is now set for 1/29. Every class is different, but this was my Sailors experience.

MMSailorsMomWA and darlene nuke mom ny...congratulations to your Sailors! Will you please share your knowledge about prototype in BS? When did your Sailors start? My Sailor graduated Power School 10/30 and is currently in BS waiting to class up...hopefully 2/1. Any info is greatly appreciated!

Darlene nuke mom ny, congrats to your daughter! I agree, it has been a long, stressful nip & tuck journey for my son. I'm SO proud of him for sticking with it and finishing. I really appreciate your offer and happily take you up on it. I think we're not suppose to post names here so I will try to figure out how to send it to you. Easier said than done.  :)

MMSailorsMomWA, my daughter is graduating Prototype in BS on the 29th, I would be happy to tack pictures for you. Its been a long journey for them.

Christina the one going away gift I got my daughter was a wallet with a dual id flap. She doesn't get excited about "things" but was happy when I gave her the wallet. She has told me since then that it was the most useful gift ever.

Christina, Welcome! This is a great place to get advice and support. Don't know what I'd do without N4M!

Your son shouldn't take anything with him to BC except the clothes he's wearing, his phone (so he can call have something to keep him occupied on the plane, and can call you when he lands), his wallet and his orders. Once he arrives they will give take everything (and I mean everything!) away from him. He can, and will, send things home in "the box", but he will be charged for postage, so the less he has in there, the better. They will keep his wallet safe for him, but he, himself will not get to keep anything he takes with him. Once you receive "the letter" you can send him self-addressed, stamped envelopes, and letters. Make sure you read the guidelines posted on his PIR page about how and where to send letters.

It's hard to have them gone for so long with so little contact, but you will be SO proud when you go to PIR!

Spoke to my son this weekend. He informed us that he will be graduating from Prototype in BS on the 29th!! His long journey is just about over.

I looked into it and will not be able to go to his graduation. Is anyone else's sailor graduating then? I'd love to get a picture if anyone is going.

Thank you Kam mom for the advice. I am starting a list of things he needs to take. I know he can't take much. I appreciate all advice :]
