Read the Pages on the right. I would not send a box now. You can bring him his electronics to give to him at the airport the day after PIR. He can not wear civies right away and the Navy will assign sheets for starters. If he wants others you can send later when he has been there a couple of weeks. Wait until he gives you his address after he is there.

My son will be arriving at Goose Creek after PIR on Jan. 15. I was thinking about sending the box of things to indoc. that has been described here. Has anyone else done that? Sheets and things? And did your SR appreciate that? Do you know how long they have to wait to get the box? I am assuming regular twin size sheets? Thank you for your help. This is an amazing resource.

glad to hear the missle thing was no big deal. didn't think it was or there would have been a lot more recourse. still don't like the thought of one of our ships being shot at.

Cotwin and J's mom  glad to hear you had a great visit with your sailors always sad to see them go.

Beachmom welcome to the journey don't be afraid to ask questions we have some great regulars here to help you out.

My new Nuke mom adventure is starting.  Son had PIR on December 31st and arrived in Charleston Saturday.  All settled and ready for this new adventure.  I'm more anxious with all I hear on how difficult this program is than I was during boot camp but he's determined to make it and I am determined to be his strong Navy Mom supporter!  Happy New Year to all :)  Time to go through all the pages you of information to help a newbie out, thank you.

My son that is here said that the missile was not a big thing also.

He now has moved on and we had to day goodbye yesterday:(

It was the perfect visit though. Good mix of time alone and sailor visiting friends.

Love the coffee post.

Hi all - Happy Monday!  I'm ready for the day and ready for 2016!

Great pictures CoTwin!  Glad you are having a nice visit with your IT son.

We spoke with our sailor (on the Truman) on New Year's Day.  He said the missile firing was no big deal - they knew about it ahead of time.  Says the news is trying to make more out of it than what it really was....They weren't worried!

Hope everyone had a fun New Year's Eve - we played Bunco with some friends - first time ever for hubby & I & we had a blast!  Can't wait to play again.

I see we've hit 2855 members - awesome!

J's/S'smom - wow that's a lot of turkey lol!  I hope the weather cooperated & you were able to get your nuke son home for the weekend!

Bsmom - so sorry just read about your sons situation. Hugs to you but hopefully lesson learned and he can grow from situation. the hardest part was probably him feeling he let you all down. He's lucky to have understanding supportive parents like you. Cryptology seems to be the 2nd choice for most nukes. Hopefully he will find something he enjoys, nuke life isn't easy and not many 2nd choices are given unfortunately. Tough lesson at such an early age. hugs and comfort to your family glad to hear your sticking around.

ItGal sorry for your loss.

Cotwin bet your happy to have one of your sailors home.

Happy New Years to all

This is the non-nuke  IT son. Just back from deployment, Nuke son is deployed now.
