Silly question.  What date is used to celebrate when a sailor officially became part of the Navy - swear in at MEPS or boot camp graduation???

Comment by britefuture on November 14, 2015 at 9:47am

Good morning everyone. Just a quick drop in. I've been following all of the posts and think of you all often, just not much time to post. Been helping with my husbands grandfather who was placed in hospice. And now on to planning our family Thanksgiving dinner. No one knows that my favorite Sailor will be home except for me. So it will be a home coming then we say goodbye to him again and also my daughter, who will be moving to San Antonio on the 30th. My lucky Sailor gets to add Hawaii to his port visits. While he has enjoyed this 8 1/2 month deployment, he said he will be so glad to be back on dry land and home, where things are more familiar.

I will continue to pray for all of you and your families. And will add the victims of the Paris attacks. How very sad that those cowards have to attack innocent people. I suppose they know they are nothing against our military and coalition forces.

WOW BWM, You made me smile. That was really nice.

I got a call as he waited to board. He was in good spirits. I could see his face just like your son's description of him. He does always smile. We talked about my going out to Hawaii when he gets back. Maybe His twin coming also. And their Dad. Having a kind of family get together.

I plan to vacuum seal cookies with the hope of sealing in flavor. I will send them to the ship and it will catch up at a port at some point. I had sent him some small Christmas Presents that he packed so he has some to open for Christmas.

Buzzbeck, yes, the Navy is training us too. Flexibility, strength, faith and Hope, also, Going with the flow and finding the silver lining is something we Moms all need to get to be pros at.

Michelle0206: I heard about the change of date for A School graduation last night also, I heard new date is Dec 4. I laid on the couch and sulked, because I cannot change my plans either. But being with our sailor is the priority, so it'll be fine. I guess I'll get used to being flexible, cause it's the NAVY right?

The "A" school graduation was short and sweet this morning.  It was for class 1536 only !  Easy in and easy out.  Our daughter also came to see her brother graduate.  He did graduate with honors....he had something to prove to himself.  Now he has a few days off and then will wait until January to begin the next phase: Power School.  Congratulations to all the Sailors in the pipeline, those deployed and those waiting or newly returned.  Have a blessed Thanksgiving.

William - I just saw that on the news.  They said as many as 35 may be dead and there might be 100 hostages.  Multiple attacks.....

My son just texted me there is a large coordinated attack in Paris right now.

CO-twin, I do remember you the most in my first days in this group. Our sons got to GC almost at the same time in June 2013. My son graduated BC before yours, but he was stopped at Great Lakes for two weeks waiting on a medical waiver. Even if our sons don't know each other personally, I did showed my sailor a photo of your boy a long time ago. He inmediately recognized him and said, I know who he is, he's the tall dude who's always happy. How do you know he's always happy? He replied, he always have a smile in his face. I told my sailor that your boy ended up in Hawaii. He was wondering! Anyway, seems like yesterday when they arrived at Goose Creek. Now they are out there taking care of our freedom with all the other sons and daughters. So, blessings to your sailor, hope he enjoys this adventure and come back with a bunch of stories to tell.
