Hello Moms.  I joined this group a while ago to "lurk"...my 2nd Sailor son had PIR this past Friday and arrived in Goose Creek on Saturday 11/7...he will go to MM A School.  I assume this week is all INDOC.   I have tons of questions and I know he's anxious & excited to finally be there. He was in DEP for almost a year, and it sure did fly by.  He gave up an NROTC scholarship offer to sign and enlist as a Nuke, so my biggest fear is that he will have regrets one day.  Right now, he and his roommate have been trying to get their room together with the basic necessities (tv, video game, coffee pot, alarm clock- all the "important stuff") :)

Any parents out there on this sight going down for A-School graduation the week of Thanksgiving?
Also, what can we expect for this graduation ceremony?

My son is all done with the pipeline and is on a sub out of Pearl Harbor. Next on his agenda is to be a navy diver. I guess all subs have then and it is a special ops job if I understand right.

hey Nuke Moms,

My Sailor son is waiting to ship out for Nuke. He scored very well on the ASVAB and Nuke was after him, but he wanted to try out for Spec Ops. After some PT work with the Spec Ops guys, he decided he needed a bit more toughening up and signed a contact for ETS/FC, with the intention to come back to Spec Ops. Well, Nuke wasn't giving him up, and called him right after he passed on SWCC. It's good to feel wanted!  So he was just accepted to Nuke, and is waiting to sign a new contract.

I have heard and read so much about how tough Nuke is, I am a bit apprehensive. Would love some solid words of support from other Nuke Moms!

Talk about strange foods.......i must puree all my husband's food for two weeks following some facial reconstruction....that makes even regular chicken and mixed veggies very strange. He spooned the glop into his mouth with his eyes closed!!!!  I used the 900 watt nutribullet and it was great.   It makes wonderful whipped cream too in a matter of seconds!.   State fairs often have some very strange combinations.  We are headed to GS for "A" school graduation this coming Friday.  Fortunately we are in-state and have opportunities to see our sailor fairly regularly....also our daughter lives down in that area.  WE's been going down to MUSC for my husband's surgery too.  But we are very excited for this opportunity.  Of course we don't know when his Power School will begin , the next event in the pipeline.  I enjoy all the bantering back and forth and it sounds like everyone's sailor or sailors are doing just fine.  Our sailor seems to be liking what he does most of the time.  He is sergeant-at-arms for his class which is a good opportunity I guess.   Thanks for all the info you provide.

I think my other twin, the non nuke one, has eaten some strange stuff in Africa and India.

There's something for everyone. I'm all for some cheesecake on a stick dipped in chocolate right now myself.

I read an article in National Geographic many years ago about a chip company researching the next flavor throughout several countries. The favorite flavor in China was dog. Its what you grow up with!
